suzuki has had 6 speed gearbox since the 80's on the sp dualsport. Thats the bottom end I have been running in my pitbike.

The SP and DR 125's were all six speeds I believe. Same gear ratios as the new 125's the extra gear was for speed on top for the street version and eventually found itself replaced by a slower (safer) 5 speed in the dirt. If your interested it takes three gears and the six speed shift drum is all I could find that was different otherwise the trannys are identical.

Probably, I'm going to do mine after the 200 is done. Maybe six weeks though. But I'll let ya know how it goes! I have the drum and two of the gears I just have to get the driven gear (output shaft) that's not in the five speed. It's there but no teeth on it so they could just eliminate sixth gear without re-designing. On the drive side (clutch shaft) only one gear is added but two replaced. The last gear furthest from the clutch has a spacer cast in to it to take up the space where the sixth drive gear would be. I am splitting the case for other reasons but if I can drop in sixth gear while Im in there it would be cool. The shift drum (not even sure you need it) is not available any longer for the six speed that I could find. The case\Tranny on the DR125 at the link above appears to be different than ours, clutch input shaft for starters so it's un-likely that drum could be used but you never know.

BTW The lit I found at a brittish Suzuki dealer had it listed as a five speed??

no, actually the dr125 and the drz 125 are extremely similar, same motor, and slightly different frame structure....

Also there is a huge difference between the dr125 and that drz 125sm pictured above.....

I know the engine is the same and probably the tranny but there are other differences.  for instance the dr's are street legal, have bigger tires, different exhaust, heavier.  cosmetic things but still different.

I would like to see a parts fische for the DR_SM the top end looks the same but i would like to see in the crankcase\tranny.

It is a current model, and it has a rear disc! the frame is pretty close too.

Heres some interesting info. These are the tranny ratios for the following bikes:

The 6th drive gear is 24 teeth but I don't have the driven gear spec.
for the DR125. My guess is 0.85 or 0.88 but I can't be sure until I get the driven gear.

DR125  1st) 3.00   2nd) 1.85  3rd) 1.36  4th) 1.09  5th) 0.92  6th) ?

DRZ125 1st) 3.00  2nd) 1.85  3rd) 1.36  4th) 1.09  5th) 0.92

DR200 1st) 3.00    2nd) 1.93  3rd) 1.44  4th) 1.09  5th) 0.91

RM85  1st) 2.54    2nd) 1.93  3rd) 1.57  4th) 1.33  5th) 1.16  6th) 1.04

For electronic injection you need to find a programmable ECU because the stock fuel curve of the 125SM is not going to feed the 143 and larger versions of this motor. The stock ECU's would see the extra flow as a lean condition and try to compensate but wouldn't be programmed with enough room to get there, it would just revert to a limp mode or run lean as heck until the piston melted. A bigger injector might help or higher fuel pressure but the O2 sensor would still be out of parameters. I researched fuel injection for an old hot rod and I think the megasquirt ECU can do one cylinder. Electromotive also makes a great ECU but it's huge for a little bike and I don't think it will go to one cylinder. It won't be long before programmable's pop up on the market with the dirt bikes and atv's that are recieving the injection systems become more common. In any case you will need a battery to provide a stable 12V source.
