Hey, and a few questions...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, finally I somehow pleaded my dad to agree to buy me a Brand New Wr450f.. Well I sold my old Yz80 for $1000, so he said he'll give me upto $7000 seperately, now hope the bike importer can get a brand new one for that price! I'll know soon, maybe 3 or 4 days... If I dont get a brand new one I'll atleast get a Low Mileage 2007 Model because I somehow want a Aluminium Frame, so if I cant get a 2007 WR450F I may get a CRF450X because they were aluminium frame from the time they started getting manufactured.. Please pray for me as I somehow want the WR!!!! lol....

Anyway, There are a few people like my younger brother who are already saying they want to go for rides lol, and yeah I gotta admit if I can take someone else on it without harming the bike, I would love to... So my question is,

I'm 5'9" ,216 Lbs and not the fat type lol more of the body builder type.. Lol so I can handle the 450.. The problem is my bro is 145-150 Lbs too lol.. Can the Stock WRF450 suspension handle both of our weight together without ruinng the rear shock? Also on ThumperFaq.com on the article of removing the exhaust baffle, they say "Most of the non-US WRF?s come with the baffle welded in place in which case an aftermarket or YZF stock exhaust is the only solution." I'm getting my bike from Japan so would this be an issue? If it is, without replacing the exhaust cant I even drill the baffle out?

Also does the Domestic Spec Wr450F come with Signal lights, Key Ignition and number plate bracket?

And I also heard some people putting in brake light switches, are the L.E.D Brake lights of the late model Wr's dual filament too? If not how does the brake light work? Could you please link me to:

Everything I need to have a working brake light+tailight?

Thanks alot for getting me into this with your posts and pictures people!!!!!

Welcome, I can't answer most of the questions but as far as pasengers go, it's generally a bad idea. I don't think you will hurt the bike in any way, but your brother might be another story. If you decide to do it anyway, take it very slow and make sure you guys aren't wearing sandles and shorts.

Good luck!

You're asking for trouble trying to ride people on the back of it. It doesn't have passenger pegs so don't ever put anyone on the back of it. I don't understand why your brother doens't ride the YZ80. Or better yet why doesn't he get a new WR250, what make you the chosen one huh!! :prof:

the 07 and up taillights are duel filliment, not sure about earlier versions, all you have to do is follow the wire coming out of the taillight into the cdi box behind the left numberplate. the coupler connection is a 3 wire connection. only 2 wires come from the bike, 3 to tailight. add a wire to the positive terminal on the battery, run it to the brake switch, then to the unused wire coming from the taillight. and blamo you got brakelights. same as the headlight. but i wouldnt run it into the brake switch, lol. unless you into letting the people infront know your slowing down. I got mine street legal the other day. i got a license plate holder of ebay for like 30 bucks, it was aluminum to match the frame, and has 10mm holes on side if you want signals. im in nh and dont need signals, so i didnt add them. check your dmv to see if you need them. I bought a kit, but if i knew then what i know now id just buy the parts seperatly. get a cheap hi/lo beam/kill switch, and a horn. wire the kill button as a horn switch and the high beam wire to the empty spot on the headlight coupler. mine had a headlight off switch as well as high/low beam. which is cool. keeping it off gives the battery a little extra charge during daylight. If you need an exact list of parts that you will need to do it yourself let me know. I wouldnt go for a baja kit. 400 bucks seems little pricy. And my buddies kit looks kinda cheap. i got my kit from dale at trickdualsport.com(the 150 buck kit) im happy with it.

P.S. a 215 pound kid thats 15yo doesnt sound like a body builder, sounds like a burger king local. lol

Hey MaddogYZ, lol he gets to choose too but not such a big selection like me, hes getting a Indian bike too.. He already has a PW 80 lol...

Maxpower, I hate the shit chinese quads, and In the first place I wouldnt have come here if I wanted a chinese quad.. No offence or anything.. I just like the WR and like if I can take some one on it for a ride...

STRYCH9, thanks for the info..But in Sri Lanka you dont need all that stuff to register a bike, just a head light is enough, one of my friends has got a really old RM125, put a UFO headlight on it and he got it registered.. Most of the time you dont even need to show the bike :prof: Lucky us! That side of Sri Lanka is still left for us to rule lol...

P.S. Heres 3 pics of me, decide whether i'm a burger king local or what I said I am..Besides we dont have burger king here...

I've got my 07 wr450 street legal it's really not a big deal to add the lights and stuff . you will have to check your local laws to find out what you need there.

here's a pic of mine with it's supermoto setup on :

As far a the stock wr spring carrying you and your bro . for the bike to ride right . you need like 2 sizes heavier springs just to carry you. I think they are sprung for someone up to 170 lbs stock

Hey tweav! Like I have said earlier, I love your bike man!!! And about the shock spring weight, what is the stock spring weight of the WR? I read somewhere its 5,5kg? Is that correct? What weight would I need to match my weight? 5,7kg?

What will happen if I ride with the stock spring?

Thanks tweav..

No burgerking there? your missin out on the double bacon burger. you do make me feel skinny now though, Im 28 and 200 +/- a couple pounds(depending if i had a double bacon that day). I feel like i should apologize because I'd hate to get my ass kicked by someone half my age.lol but I hope the importer can hook you up, you will not be dissapointed. wr is an awesome bike. Keep us informed.

you will bottom out alot if you ride much with the stockers . I do and I have a 5.5 rear spring on mine . I did adjust the damping to stop that but mines still too soft for my taste . I weigh 214 and also am 5'9" so we are on the same page there at least. I think the forks on these bikes a way soft and need alot of help , or swapped for yz ones.

well It depends on what type of riding you do and your style . mx-tech says the stock rear is a 5.3kgs and the fronts are 0.46 kgs

for your weight in gear and hare scrambles rear 5.6 front 0.49 that would be a good rate to try unless you do a bunch of high jumping then I'd go up 1 more and revalve.

Seeing that the WR is a Yz with some stuff, it should fit... Cool! Ummm... I'm really sad :prof: Three importers/dealers cant find a WR for me Yet! It sucks!!! Hope I get one before my birthday in June!

get a yz then . It's just harder to get good lights , and no e-z button . on the other hand they are nowhere near as gutless when they are stock. there's always other brands too.

Hey guys, I went to the importer today and there is a DRZ400SM that has caught my eye.. Its 2005 or 2006 Model.. Its in its Supermoto Clothes now but I will exchange the Onroad Tires and wheels for Off Road tires and wheels... I will also order a Acerbis or UFO replacement off road front fender. And I may get a UFO headlight, the original one looks too heavy and big lol... I also like the trail tech computers..We'll see.. Still looking for a WR450F though.. Another thins, the guy said if I buy this he'll stlll be looking for a WR for me so if he finds one he wil buy the DRZ back for the same price...

Oh BTW heres a pic of the DRZ..Tell me what you guys think about the DR-Z..

I sometimes ride with a guy with a drz . I have not rode it . they are a tough built bike , but are kind of heavy. My wr seems to have a good bit more power. but the drz would be a fun ride.

Ps. why does that thing have such a small front rotor ? that is a dirt front rotor . It will be fun trying to get it to stop on the street.
