I have a WR muffler on my '01 YZ 426 with a PMB insert. It bolts to the stock YZ header. I did have to change the jetting, but I can pass the strict 94 dB sound checks in MI. Check on eBay and in the TT classifieds for them. You can also look for some aftermarket exhausts that have the ability to add a spark arrestor to them, but they are usually load (near 100 dB)

:prof:
Riding my yz400f on "federal" land.
Well the nice ranger paid a visit as we where loading up to leave....
carried a small diameter length of wooden cane.... stuck it right up the old exhaust and charged me $125 :bonk:
Any one have a good solution for a spark arrestor for the yz: both 250f and 400f (i guess i will need them for both)
thanks in advance

Seriously, what do you expect- sparky's have been required for off-road riding for at least 20 years.
If you want a less expensive option, PMB, Purely Customs and probably a few others offer spark arrestor end caps for $125-150. Other than that, you can spend anywhere from $200-$700 for a slip-on or complete new system with sparky.

Wow, only $125 ticket?
Don't even ask what it is here in CA. Last I heard it was up in low to mid $300's

My buddy got a ticket for not having a spark arrester on his 426 last Thanksgiving in Cal City and his ticket was $60.00. They had so many bikes stopped that the guys getting tickets had to wait in a line:bonk: .

Just wait. They're coming. It is only a matter of time. Once the tree huggers get their way in one place, they just move down the road a bit.

I'm going to be a Rock Hugger. Rocks were here first. Trees and plants are pollution. Kill the trees. Save the rocks.

OK. Sorry.

A big thanks for all the suggestions - it really helped get me over my attitude :prof:
I finally went with the DrD - it fits the stock silencer, simply drill out the pop-rivets and drill, fit and re-rivet....cheers

That's not the point at all. The point is, sparky's have been required on ALL public lands for a very long time.
