Did I get a good deal? '08 WR450F

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a brand new 2008 WR450 and I got it for MSRP, $7199. They did charge me $250 for the AIS/throttle stop/snorkel /re-jetting mods. My total OTD cost was $7518.70.

Did I get a good deal? Inquiring minds want to know....

I originally went to purchase an 07, but the dealer had one left they could not sell because the vin was not matching their paperwork..........I got mine for a little less than you did..........I did not have them do the mods......and I purchased the extended warranty too........but I think once you ride that monster, you will not ask yourself that question again.......it is a great bike for that price in my opinion..............go enjoy it............?

paying msrp is never a good deal, so the simple answer to the question is "no". Could have been worse though, there's a recent thread about some guy that really got raped on the purchase of his WR. Go to www.otdcyclesports.com and request a quote sent to your e-mail, that will tell you approximately what you should have paid for the bike OTD, taxes, fees, etc... included. california doesn't have a "cool off" period, so once you sign the paperwork the bike is yours to keep and pay for. Not too bad though, could have been worse. Now just focus on enjoying your bike and forget the price.

Ditto on the OTD cycles. My local dealer matched the $6199 OTD that OTD cyclesports was advertising last year for my '07.

Bitchen deal considering 250fs normally sell for about that.

Could have been worse. The dealer could have con'd you into buy an extended warranty or "pre paid" service plan. Don't forget, they're people paying like $8.5K on a ktm OTD ?

Yeah, and remember that the USD has crashed to an all time low against the Euro, so that's pretty darn good for a KTM

OTDCyclesports quoted me $6699.00 OTD....$500.00 less than I paid. I still think I got a good deal. I like dealing with my local vendor since he gives me geat service on my other toy, my FJR1300. The OTDcyclesport quote does not include the add-ons that I also got....I'll take the other advice in the replies...I'm going riding today...see ya!

How could you pay 7199 for the bike, 250 for mods and be out the door for 7518? That leaves 69 for sales tax and reg? Why would you think you got a good deal if you paid MSRP? MSRP is the max they will let you pay...

Here is what it boils down to in my opinion... If you are happy with the bike and you dont plan on trying to get your money back, then ride it without regret. Again, in my opinion, the WR450F is the best kick a$$ bike I have ever owned and I am glad I got it. When I am in the Dunes, I dont think about what I paid for it... just glad I got it!

Happy Riding!

I picked up a used 07 last week with the following mods and 120 miles on the clock for $5000.

1.) White Bros Exhaust

2.) Power Up Kit = Jetting, Throttle Stop Screw, and Air Box Mod, Grey Wire Mod

3.) Smog Block Offs (Installed but smog equipment is still on the bike)

4.) YZ Front Plate

5.) Cyrca Hand Guards

6.) Extra Excel Wheel w/ new paddle tire

7.) Gas Cap Vent...

My advise... the 07s are starting to hit the used market... The guy I bought mine from got it on the Yamaha no payments & no interest for 6 months. I bought it from him before his first payment... ?

He paid $6750 OTD, and probably put another $1400+ in the mods to ride it 5 times.

motorbikes are like computers.....

what is a good deal today is not a good deal in 6 months.

i agree with what everyone else is saying.....

you bought a great bike

you did the right things to let it run like it should

stop thinking about the $$$ and just start riding it....

hell just go to the garage and stare at that thing......haha

I like this answer..........so what if you paid alittle more than some/most.........you have an awsome bike that will make you pee your pants if you use it to its full potential........forget starring at it.........start it and take it for a ride..............I hit the street every once in awhile just to feel the power............GO RIDE that beast.........?
