I want to buy a dual sport. The XR650L was what I thought I wanted because I wanted the electric start, but I saw a 1993 XR650R in the paper the other day that was on my way home so I stopped and looked and to my surprise it had an electric start. So what XR's come with the happy button. I want it mainly for a commuter but I will occasionally ride it to a few favorite fishing holes up in the hills so I am not so sure I want the weight of the L off road(after reading about the weight difference here). I have around $3200 to spend. Will this be enough to buy a good street legal 600 or 650? O.K. last question. The temp. here can reach 100 to 105 degrees in the summer, will the air cooled models be able to handle this alright in stop and go conditions? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know only the XR650L (Dual Sport) has the electric start. The air cooled bikes do well in very hot temps. You may need to bump the octang up a little like 93-95 for better power with less pinging.
