Look what they get that we don't!

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I was reading the post about rear pegs and saw a link to an Italian Super Motard XR650R and did some digging to see if it was production or just a dealer buildup... but I found it interesting in Italy they list a Super Motard XR, 250, 400 and 650R and the R is electric start....but when I went to the CR portion of the production line...they have CRF 500 and all the flavors in between in every format available? Just found it interesting.

Oh yea... here is the site, http://www.hondaitalia.com/moto/default.html

(edit...I noticed my post didn't go directly to it...so here is http://www.hondaitalia.com/moto/prodotti/index.asp if you need to go directly to the product page)

Just go to XR and CR at the top.

I know the transalp isn't new but It still looks like fun compared to what we get here.

I'm glad to see they are still using the XRR somewhere even if it isn't here!

Thought I'd Share

Why does the world hate us? Or is it our government that hates us? Is it really too much to ask for a street legal crf500sm!?!?!?!?! They already have um made...just put them in a crate and ship them over here!

5 stages of grief

1) Denial

2) Anger :ride:

3) Bargaining ?

4) Depression :ride:

5) acceptance ?

.....I think im going to be stuck in anger for quite some time......excuse me while i go break stuff :D

Exactly the reason I find myself searching through overseas eBay sites looking for their "uncool" take offs that we're wishing we had. ?

C'mon Honda...If you build it they will ride.

Ugh... Thats one thing that has annoyed me fore years ever since I've been to Europe... How come they get so many of the cool bikes that we don't?

And, how come Honda is the only company that hasn't started getting on the ball w/ GOOD dual sports? Suzuki has the DRZ 400, Kawasaki has the KLX 250, and now Yamaha has the new WR 250. So what does Honda do? They give us a street legal CRF 230... What kind of crap is that? That is supposed to compete w/ the WR 250, and the DRZ 400? I've always been a Honda guy, but that is an absolute joke...

Then NEED to bring some of those sick SM's over. I think the Honda guys need a good kick in the pants, esp since a lot of the trail crowd has been going from red to orange lately. They really don't have much in their line-up, except for the 450 and 250, and not all of us want bikes that we have to worry about burning up the valves...

I'm waiting to see if Honda wil come out w/ like a 550 thumper, thats street legal, and can compare to the KTM 530. Not something that is as heavy as the piggy (although I love mine), but something that is a good cross as the piggy and the 450. Something you can go for a dual-sport ride on, but will still be very competitive off-road...

Me and my buddy have been talking about this lately, that Honda needs to get their sh!t in gear, otherwise they will lose a large section of the market to the austrian boys...

Alright, I'm going to start a rumor. If you look on the top left of their CR page there is a 25th anniversary logo. Well, next year (09) is Honda's 50th anniversary here in the states so I'm predicting they will bless us with a few of those cool toys for our big hoopla.

If this happens, I'm sorry piggy but you will be sharing your stall with a CRM500 I.

You heard it here first folks...now go spread the word.?

Way to go J_T!! Now all I want to do is lust while looking at that Honda site!! I wonder how hard it would be to buy about ten of those 500's and have them shipped to the states or if its even possible? I mean if ten of us showed interest and split the shipping would Honda & Italy give the green light and I wonder what the import fees from the US would be? Just a thought:busted: !

I had a US Land Rover Defender and sold it and looked into importing a diesel one into the US when I lived out of the country. It wasn't going to be worth the cost because you'd have to pay a company that certified to convert all the differences between theirs and ours and then certify that its US DOT approved.

BUT for a BIKE...there was a section of offroad or race only products for import Maybe you could do it as such and then go through the dual sport process that we all did for the XR650R...in their case a motard bike would already have the options needed?

The other option was to have someone at the company publish or certify that the vehicle in that country is the SAME as the one released in our company?

I haven' looked into importing a vehicle for about 5 years now so I don't remember the details...but maybe someone with connections in FL docks can help us out??
