Hi, looking to import a new wr to ontario canada from the US(Ohio) and I need a car dealership or an honest US citizen to help out with a US title before transferring it over to my name, Prefferably not boardering the state of Ohio so their will be a tax saving for me. Thier will be the normal title paperwork at the dealer's and a phone call to HQ in California to get a "letter of recall" that is needed at the boarder, this can all be done by fax and email and a few phone calls and besides you can say you owned a new wr for about 10minutes lol?---- please don't respond with ideas --- this is the way it's done--- the boarder on both sides have made changes----and also deals with dealer border agreements around the great lakes and the Ohio dealer needs a ssn.

Ok guys - listen up, this guy is NOT full of it, up here bikes cost a TON more than down there, and yes, the dealers have been warned against selling bikes to canadians - I believe they can lose their right to sell bikes, so the dealers are starting to comply.

Here are a couple of suggestions to ww44wrf450f:(I know you don't want suggestions because you know it all)

It's MUCH easier to buy a used bike and bring it back here - dealers will sell you used bikes - might be an alternative route for you.

Go deep into the US (kentucky, NC, etc) and buy a new one there, they will sell it to you, and there are NO laws in place that can stop you from legally importing a new bike to Canada as long as your paperwork is in order. As long as you pay your duty and GST you're good to go, it's the border states that are being forced to stop selling bikes because it directly affects the Canadian bike market, however, dealers deeper into the states are not being forced into this yet since the chances of canadians coming down to buy one are so much lower.
Check it out - all your facts are here:
first off - here's the list of what can and can't be imported - no restrictions on Yamaha:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/.../list/VAFUS.pdf
Second - go read RIV's website:
http://www.riv.ca/
third - more info:

Thanks for the reply--- and I don't know it all--- Its the dealer --HQ yami said no problem its the dealer wanting his incentives and dealer policies ---
this is how all the dealers are doing it I have been told --- its just a way to get around the issue and they all do it this way --- just trying to find a friendly US citizen to help me out prefferably his state he lives in doesn't boarder Ohio and I'l save the state tax too!
