That's a nice fitting rack.

Wish they'd been about when I got my bike!

Do they do an option to stop saddle bags from fowling the rear wheel?

That rack is from Turbo City.  Price is 89.95.  Easy installation.  Over all weight addition is 5 lbs.

Not that I'm aware of.  I'm going to use the Revpack Excursion bag behind me and as you can see, there is plenty of room to fit it.  It doesn't hang down far enough to be a problem.  When I get it, I'll load it and post a photo of it on the bike.  http://revpack.com/m...cycle/main.html

This thread seems to be developing nicely, lots of good info so far.

I'm agonizing over the 225 and the 250, anyone out there had both? Sure would like to hear the pluses and minuses on each from an owners standpoint.

Thanks for the continued help.

Jon

Hi Corky,

single carb matey!

Hi Jon2,

I've got the 250 and my father's got a 225, both in the same garage and both ridden by me.

I'd have no qualms in buying either one again in the future, but prefer the more modern feel of the 250.

Both are fabulous machines in their own right.

Hi GsVs,

the Denali rack looks perfect for me.

Cheers chaps

I would be interested to know if the side pieces will come off separate from the top rack. They are bit ugly without the bags (IMHO). The add says it removes in minutes, but I would like to keep the rear rack on, and take off the sides when unused. Guess I could email turbocity, or maybe hear from a forum member.

Shalom, Marc

Quick oil question for the XT250.  My manual says that I should run 10w-30 oil.  Walmart has a small area with motorcycle gear, and they sell the Mobil 1 Motorcycle oil.  I would like to buy the Mobil 1 motorcycle oil, but I think they only sell 10w-40 and 20w-50.  Is the 10w-40 bad for my XT or do you think it's fine to use his oil?  I know there are big debates on oil type, synthetic or non, and various other things relating to oil (and break in period), so I hope this doesn't turn into that kind of thing!

Well I have 1534 miles on my Xt250 and I think I am ready to sell it. I just don't have any near places to ride off road. So I guess I will just get a street bike. Anyone wanna buy it? It is in perfect condition.

jbobst - Really easy. Use Yamalube 4, SAE10W30, or SAE20W40 with API service SG type or higher, JASO standard MA. This bike hold less than 2 quarts, so cost is not high. You can never go wrong (IMO) by following the manual.  I like synthetic oil, but we all have our opinions. I put it in right away - so what if it takes longer to break in or cost me a buck or two more. But again, that is the way I do it. I personally like to stick to the manual - gives me peace of mind on those extremely hot days.

dataquest - How much and where are you? Oh, inserting the address like you did:

http://i297.photobuc....g?t=1207259541

works just fine. If someone wants to see your bike all they need to do is click.

Shalom, Marc
