yz 450 exhaust system on wr 450

Hi everyone,

sorry if this sounds familiar but I did read a lot of the threads and I still have no answer for my question, and here it is: Would a 2006 450cc yz's full exhaust system fit on my 2004 wr 450? I heard that the pipes are different from yz to wr, and that if I was to get the yz can, I'd be better of with it's own pipe also. Any thoughts???

Been looking at all the free mods lately and wanting to do a lot of them on my bike. The one issue that bothers me the most is the exhaust. I have to keep it quiet around where I live but also want some performance. I've decided I would not hack up my oem exhaust and get the yz's and maybe quiet it down a bit as they are (supposedly) loud. Thus , having the choice depending on the type of ride.

I think you will need to re-jet for each

PS send me a note if you are looking for a 03-05 YZF exhaust - it fit my 05 WR - not sure about the 06. I only used a few times - mint condition

It will NOT fit. The '06 YZ has an aluminum frame while the '04 WR is steel...totally different mounting points...SC

once you put the YZ pipe on it, Ill bet you come up with every reason why you bike isnt too loud when its on. It really lites the WR up

I have a 2004 as well and bought a used 03 YZ exhaust. SC is correct, an 06 YZ pipe will not fit. And yes, it is louder than stock and you will have to rejet after making the change. Unfortunately for me I was pissing off the neighbours with that pipe. So I went back to stock and took out the stock pea shooter insert and put in a ProMoto Billet insert I bought from thumpertalk. Wish I could run the YZ pipe.

I may be able to give a good deal on a used 03 YZ pipe.

YZ exhaust is a great idea. I melted the rivets at the inlet side of the can on my 05 which melted some plastics before I found out:eek: Just put a stocker back on for noise reasons but think that the YZ would free her up a ton after disecting my old burnt can:thumbsup:
