The balancer chain is on the other side of the motor. There should be a bolt in the balancer adjustment flange to keep it from moving after it has been adjusted. Troy341

I have a '78 XL175 (and a '76 DT175). Last time I took the XL out the clutch managed to stick itself open. I managed to fix it by fiddling with the cable tension, resetting to its original position, and/or whacking the clutch side with a mallet. Gotta love stone age tech :bonk: Are these old XL clutches prone to doing that?

The wife and I take them out when we can. We have plans to truck them over to Winthrop, WA this summer and explore the fire roads in that area - both are plated.

Hello unlucky1, my brother had a yami like yours, fun bike to play in the dirt on. Where is it your riding in the pictures, it looks like capital forest but hard to tell. Maybe I'll find you on the trails one of these days.

My 81 xl500 I am in the process of turning it into a flat tracker. CR125 front fork conversion. Battery eliminated. considering an 18 or 19" front wheel. 6500 orig miles. If anybody needs stock parts I have a box full. ;)
how do you know what front ends will swap over? I want a newer front end on my 79' xr250. That bike looks really good great job on the mx front end.

Hi ... New to forum and picked this bike up recently ...

http://s1013.photobu...nda%20XL%20250/

Needs a few things ... seat, headlight bucket, tail light, battery, and speedo cable. What similar years does the '77 250 share? side plates, battery, speedo cable? I have found a few things on ebay, but want to make sure if I can't find '77 items, that similar years will work.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks man, the DT is crazy fun. My street ride is a Buell Ulysses but I think the DT gets my heart racing more. I am just getting started with dirt riding and I pretty much can't get enough.

I find spots to ride under power lines in Snohomish Co, this one is near Snohomish itself. Bikes are plated so I'll take them anywhere there isn't a gate and then some.
