Best looking skid plate for '07?

Hi All,

I realize this is totally subjective but I want to know what you all think is the best looking skid plate for the YZ450. I have looked at most the manufacturers sites and the pictures are poor to say the least. At least they don't show the plate on the bike.

I just ordered a moose racing skid plate today because a buddy of mine had one on his bike, they look really clean, are light, and are very though. His had taken countless beatings on large rocks and such and still looks good. They run around $100

if you run the alum one Works Connection, plan on hearing it vibrate... i switched from it to the Lightspeed CF.

the lightspeed one is nice. but depending on your riding application it may not be the best.. if you ride in a lot of rocks i would reccomend a aluminum one.. i have the gytr glide plate from yamaha. and it has held up extremly well. and i believe it only costed me around 70 bucks. the pic attached is the only pic that shows the skidplate. if you need a better one let me know.

For Mx A Glideplate Would Be Enough But For Rocks You Need A Full Skidplate.i Have A Flatland Racing And Its A Quality Item But Also Checkout The Gytr Plates From Yamaha I Dont Know Who Makes Them But I Had One On My Last Bike And It Was A Quality Item Like Most Gytr Stuff.

I cut some strips from an old inner tube and used grip glue to attach them to my old Works Connection skid plate. It helped and be sure and use the foam that came with the plate too.

I now have a Lightspeed guide plate and I like it a lot better.

As much as I hate the look of a full skid plate I think that's what I'll have to get. I spend to much time in rocky river washers, etc. I was hoping that someone might have a super sexy full skid plate, but I suppose that's like asking your mom to be sexy; it just ain't gonna happen.

I'll probably end up going with something from Utah Cycle Sport. I had one of their units on my WR and it was bullet proof.

EDIT: I didn't realize the unit from E-line was so sweet. I think that's what I will go with. The lightspeed is nice, but I like the look of the single unit better. Nate

The GYTR is the best looking of the Aluminum off road plates IMO. Carbon is nice, but really shows wear easily. Dirt, better yet river rock, will do a real number on carbon fiber. I run carbon fiber cranks on my mountain bike and they don't look so nice any more.

I have the aluminum works plate and it works great, I've had plenty of rock encounters and it still looks good, the foam keeps crap out of the area between the case and plate and the plate comes off fairly easy for cleaning and oil changes(about 2 minutes R&R) it doesnt stand out like the carbon so its not as bling but it gets the job done, looks identical to the gytr I think. Never had any vibration or noise from it either. Maybe someone needs to tighten theirs a little. I typed this on my iPhone so I dont have a pic to put here but there's a closeup in my garage. My WC skid plate was plenty tight, but there is a noise echoing through the aluminum frame with the WC. I gave(happily) my WC skid plate to the guy who bought my '06 and he had the same complaint and took it off. I had one of the first skid plates from WC for the '06 YZ450F and it fit like crude....maybe they have improved since then.

+2 on the GYTR plate. I like it because it actually protects the frame rails a bit. It's almost a cross between a full skid plate and a glide plate. Add the GYTR water pump guard and it's a pretty good combo.

that maybe the case because the wc plate on my 07' fits so tight nothing gets between it and the frame rails. I was really impressed at how tight it actually fit. That could be something it took a bit for them to figure out.
