Will the stock length chain work for both a 15 50 dirt set up and a 15 42 supermoto set up?

Wheels and goodies are on the way. It's going to be a restless couple of weeks.

No I doubt it will. However you can just break the chain to fit the smaller sprocket and get another joining link to join the remaining chain back on when you wanna use the bigger sprocket.

I think 8 links difference is too much - that's like 2" difference in where the wheel sits. But yes, you could use 2 links for when using the bigger sprocket.
But really - for what the chain costs compared to what you just spent, wouldn't that be like using bailing wire on a 1000 hp funny car?????

You will be lucky to get the 15 45 to happen. I have a 45 for mine and an OEM 14. Stock chain (14-48) is too long when the wheel is all the way back. Get another master link and install it so that you can replace the links that you have to take out for the 42 when you go back to 50. I do this to go 45 to 48 and vice versa

Stock is 15/50 if I remember right, chain length for that is 112 I think, so for 42 tooth rear you'd just subtract 8 links.
I always buy 120's and remove what I don't need and give it to my wife as a bracelet for valentines.

Reminds me, I better head off to the dealer and get that gold chain I've always wanted since tomorrow's the 14th and my hunny deserves something shiny!!!!
