I made mine street legal because , if yamaha finally does make one for the Usa ,I Don't think I would even want it it because they would completely change the bike into a puffed up mopad ,instead of the bike we all love and truely want. There are just too many lawers looking for a reason to sue a big company here in the USA . IF you want one build it ,You'll love it ....

yes I made little perch mounts for my mirrors the left one has holes tapped in the bottom for the hot start.

The rack Is promoto billet . it cost 160 . for an extra 40 bucks they sell a chainsaw mount for it . I have not got that yet but I will

Neat commercial. What is the draw to have the bike street legal? I just don't get it. I have ridden street bikes for years and I still have a Harley. I have had all types of sport bikes/crotch rockets. Why would you want to ride a "dirt" bike on the street? I can kind of understand the "motard" deal but, knobbies and pavement don't really play well together (wear and traction). I love my WR450 but, I have no desire to have it plated.

Do those of you that have them plated actually ride them on the street to get to an off road riding place? Just curious.

Unfortunetly here in the U.S. an ad like that wouldn't fly because all that roost is not politically correct because its not "treading lightly"

I live 3 miles from the state game lands . so I can just hop on my wr and leave my house . down the road to the trail .Not to mention without a plate on a bike in this area it is illegal to ride two wheels in the game lands because they will not issue a bike a riding permit "the whole Tread lightly crap". so a plated bike is the only bike allowed..

Now answer my question : Why would you want to ride a harley ? It's not fast...It doesn't handle . it sucks gas . and it makes more noise then power ,Oh and I almost forgot you can't get them wet or dirty . I don't see the point . Just curious

I go to the merry old land of Oz every year and spoke with some of the "blokes" at the dealerships and they said it is actually Yamaha Australia and the local dealerships that make the WRs street legal. Yamaha Australia took care of all the legal paperwork and the local dealerships add on all the turn signals, mirrors, etc. So I guess it is kinda "from the factory". All the major brands are street legal there and everyone I came across said the bike manufacturers had to make their bikes street legal or else they would never sell any bikes. So obviously someone started it and then all the others followed suit. Hopefully this is starting to happen here in the US with KTM and Husky leading the way and Yamaha putting a toe in the water with the WR250R.

This then begs the question, is there something we Americans can do to convince Yamaha USA to have the same level of commitment to their customers as their Aussie and British coworkers? How about a petition?

That is why I dual sport my dirt bikes. That is why my plated WR450F means the world to me. That is how I picture myself when day dreaming about my WR. I often try to explain how I feel ridding my plated WR from my garage but my words never seem to come close to articulating my joy. This video says it all!

CAMAROMAN, Besides my WR I have five other bikes in my garage. One of which is a Suzuki Hyabusa. The Busa is a bad ass road bike that is a dram to ride. It's my 120 mile round trip commuter. I love my road bikes but they don't give that sence of adventure like the plated WR does.

Just imagine yourself as a 16 year old kid sneaking out your dirt bike for a long joy ride on the street. I get that feeling every time I leave the garage on my plated WR! That feeling is a wonderful thing in the life of a 40 year old man. I have some decent fire roads that are only seven miles from my front door. Even in the winter I'm out there often and getting there is half the fun. In the summer, well, the "out ridding" door mat say's it all.

Ofcourse knobies on the street don't do well in the corners but that's part of the fun of it. It remindes you that your on a bike that's not suposed to be there, even more fun. Knobies do hook up well while going straight. It makes it hard to keep the front wheel on the ground, more of the fun factor! I can go on forver but I'll stop here. I think it's time to fire up the WR again!
