I have recently broke in my new scoot and I got some good advice from a thumper rider about avoiding throttle twisting while the motor is not running. (I have a young son learning to ride and loves to sit on my bike) His suggestion was to shut the fuel valve off and let the bike idle till it is dry when I'm done riding. Sounds good. But when I did this, it took about one minute and the radiator fluid started coming out the overflow tube at the cap? Is this normal or is the bike getting to hot?

Thanks Bobby

Turn the fuel valve off & don't worry about anyone twisting the throttle, just don't twist it when you go to start it. With the auto decompression it shouldn't be a problem to start at all. I wouldn't let that bike idle for more than 30 seconds or so, it just wasn't designed to idle, it needs airflow.

What I always do after I am done riding my bike for the day,is turn off the off the fuel, lay my bike on its side until you see the fuel stop running out of the carburetor overflow lines. With the fuel drained out of the carb, you can twist the throttle as much as you want without it affecting anything.I think running your bike out of fuel everytime would make your bike get hot and would not be very good for the motor...
