I recently tore down my bike to powder coat the frame metalic silver and ended up putting in a 450 cam and new piston N' rings while i had the engine out. I put new graphics, painted misc things like the swing arm and spring. i also lubed every bearing in the bike with some bel-ray waterproof grease as well as super-cleaned every thing i could.

here are some pics. i hope you guys like it!

Very nice...I took my 01 426 apart quite awhile ago to do a bottom up rebuild...well lets say it is still a work in progress after I cracked open the engine to find out why I was loosing all my power. Ended up getting real lazy with it and bought an 07 WR and have been riding that for over a year now. I miss the track bike but having fun on the WR nonetheless...

Never thought of silver for the frame but it looks really good, was going to do mine in black but decided against it and went back with yami blue.

...i know, i painted the frame first with silver high heat paint and that chipped the first ride:thumbsdn:....but i thought the silver really made the bike look more modern or clean-if that makes any sense?! so i just tore it down again and got it powder coated silver.

Nice work! Just an FYI; several people in the past who powder-coated the frame ended up with grit in the oil tank (search the threads here) when the openings weren't blocked off, which promptly lunched the motor. If you haven't ridden it yet, double check the tank is clean before you do.

I have a 08 450, and I love it, but I don´t know why, but the 426 looks so much nicer to me than my new 08.

i searched heavily before even powder coating and the place i took it to was very good with the prep and pluging procedure. even though they did a great job there where a few little particles in the frame but i flushed it for about half an hour and let it dry and that seemed to work just fine with no engine failure yet!
