Installed the Edelbrock on my 650L, I Like My Bike Again! Woo Hoo!

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys

Finally installed the new Edelbrock Pumper onto my 650L with the help of "XR650LBUM" aka Mike.

Install was very easy and straight forward after Mike cleared up a few questions i had. Cable routing was much easier then other folks made it seem.

We changed the default settings to the settings that Mike uses with great luck, but my results were different. At first we had some popping and back firing, tried a few different combos, took it for a short test drive and had some loud backfiriring.

I decided to try their recommended "Default" settings of needle #16 and 15 clicks out, started up easy as pie and rode like a raped ape!

Zero backfire, Zero hesitation (symptom that drove me NUTS with the stock carb), TONS more pull and no hiccups! :busted:

It truly does ride like a completely different bike and i can say that the carb was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY!

I was at wits end trying to dial in my stock carb and begin to resent my bike out of the frustration :applause:

I am most stoked with this new mod and i am very interested to see how it does in the dirt!!:crazy:

Thanks Again Mike!

Well, I'm pretty much sold on the idea of putting an Eddy on my pig-toad.

One little problem though....I've been looking all over the place and I am having a bit of trouble finding out who sells them (for the 650L).

Could someone please let me know where I can go to get one...online that is???

XRsonly.com doesn't carry them. I must have searched over 50 websites...

I sent ya a PM

A lot of folks recommended Barnums Pro. BUT, I had left them several messages and emails and they werent returned for days, sometimes weeks.

They also jacked up their price, so between the crappy service and their high price, i found an eBay store that sells them.

I PMed ya all the info!

Thanks

Barnum's specializes in doing 'race prep bikes', not selling parts. They do fantastic engineering, design and installation work. Don't compare them to the local 'cycle gear'.

Yes...thank you both for the info.

Couple of other questions though: 1. The Eddy does use the push/pull throttle cables like the stock, right??? 2. Do the carb kits include the throttle cables or do I need to order them separately???:applause:

Most include the cables. Make sure you get the right length cables (if you have taller bars/risers) or you will have issues.

Just got my big E today. Cannot wait for the snow to melt :worthy: so I can get with it. So how many adjustments did any of you guys do and where did you end up? Bike has FMF Q pipe and desmogged, just tired of the stock carb starting issues, more power is good too.:busted:

Welcome to TT.. Mine came with three needles and I dailed mine in with the mid # needle (sorry it was three years ago I can't remember the number) but it will vary by elevation.

I believe they come preset for 1500ft.

This link will help if you didn't get setup instructions. *ignore the "nonpumper" info..
