Kyle, I always use a light weight fork oil.Gives a much easier pull and never had any issues with doing that. Just make sure to get all the old fluid out first.

Ive been aniticipating joining this group for quite some time. That time came just a few days ago as i picked up my 09 KTM 200 xcw.
I am in love with this bike and could not be happier with my decision of getting it. It just tears up single track! My prior experience comes from riding a DRZ400 so you guys can only imagine the difference haha I'm working on getting her dialed in for my riding. (In need of a 6.9 Rear spring. hint hint) Anyways I'll include some pics and I wanted to mention I have a stock gas tank in great shape and an Enduro Engineering complete tall seat in great shape as well for sale. Figured I'd check with the other 200 riders first before listing the parts... Any questions just text me 1 708 228 8771 Lookin forward to learning more about this bike and just riding the living s#*! out of it!!

This site has been very helpfull Thanks!

one thing on the hit list is getting rid of the hard clutch pull on my o4 exc. The goal is to be as easy as a KDX 200.
Is this possible? practically realistic? close but no cigar?
what are the options? fluid change?lever change?

Something is up if you have a stiff clutch pull. Mine is(no exaderation) one finger, all day, easy. That's with a full length KTM Flex lever on it. It was even easier with the shorty I took off. Have you pulled the cover and looked at the basket and hub? I have a Barnett basket and brand new hub in mine, but it wasn't really stiff before all of that.

Hi Guys

I sold my 2010 GasGas xc200 (Irish Recession)...I have just picked up a well used 03 200sx that I am looking to turn into a hareandhound race bike for a season or two until I get back on my feet. The bike needs a little tlc, a new exhaust, pads and fork rebuild to start with. Any good setup tips for hh racing? What goes wrong with these bikes?

Anything to watch out for? The Jetting is Main 190, Pilot 48 and Std needle on 3rd position, I am at sea level..

yes that cant be the way it came stock,I am going to bleed the line, disassemble the master cylinder & have a look at the clutch basket & hub.
If all else fails there is cr125 clutch springs & midwest mountain levers
thanks!

I'd pull off the slave while I was at it and make sure there is no crud or anything in the bore. Is it possible that the PO may have had the slave off and didn't get it perfectly flush when it was reinstalled? Kinda shooting in the dark here, but there are really only so many things it could be. Buying a high leverage lever might just be a band aid that covers up a bigger problem.

Also check the slave for cylinder wall scoring, this can cause a lot of friction.

Just joined the club:-) 2008 200 xc-w, already has rekluse, and long list of other upgrades. Can't wait to get to riding it. I am also a DRZ400 guy, I will be keeping my DRZ, but look forward to hitting single track on the little (as in light) smoker. I have a lot of learning to do about two strokes, will post more specifics as I learn.

Quick question………………. I have the chance to pick up a 99 200exc w/ 02 200exc USD suspension set up for my weight and a fresh top end for around 1k.
Thoughts?

SkiDaddy

Still learning to use this forum on my tablet so please excuse any lack of etiquette. I am in the Raleigh area and ride some local stuff as well as NC motorsports park. I would love to get up to Brushy, when I get a chance to I will post in advance.please let me know if there is another thread on TT to post about nc rides. Thanks

Check the regional discussion section. NC discussions are in the south east forum I think. I don't know about the other regions, but the NW section gets quite a bit of traffic and holds some of the best info about local issues and events.

I wouldn't be afraid of that 99 200 if it isn't beat. I've had 3 02 200's, and have no issues with the suspension. I only weigh 175 with all my gear, so you might need heavier springs if you weigh too much more than that.It will be just fine for trail riding.

I was out now I am back, sold my 2004 200sx a few months ago, along with a 2009 450 XCW, picked up a Husaberg 390 thinking I could kill two birds with one stone so to speak. I liked the Husaberg better than the 450 but not as much as my 200, long story short Husaberg is gone, and I picked up a 2012 200XCW today! I wont be getting much sleep tonight anticipating the ride tomorrow!

Welcome to the club! ;)

Well,.... let me start by saying...... I'M IN LOVE!!!!!!!!! :goofy:

Went to Brushy Mtn. today, first real ride, (first time there also) and coming of a crf 250r the 200xc is a night/day experiance!

This bike makes me smile fom ear to ear. :D I grew up on 2T's, so it playfully reminds me of the 125's I loved as a teenager
but the ability to lug it around is UNREAL. The addition of the knarly pipe and the PV adjustment was very noticable
as well, worth the $ / effort spent.

My next project is to fine tune the suspension, rear just needs a little tweaking (slightly choppy)
and the front seemed a bit firm for me, even though it soaked up the big hits great...... Any suggestions?

Oh, and the Brushy Mtn experiance was great! Will go back for sure!......With a few more friends, after i tell them what they are missing!
Thanks guys for makin' me wonder what it was like.....
