hey all! i am going to start building my own "stealth" silencer for my 1999 RM250.

i had a fmf q silencer for a while but ended up selling it, i currently have a standard turbine core II silencer and soon will have a stock silencer from e-bay.

i am 100% happy with my standard turbine core II sound output and performance however i have some 'ahem' "secret" riding spots near me that i could play on with a "stealth" exhaust.:ride:

my idea is to modify the stock silencer to try to achieve 85 DB. i will hopefully get the silencer for about 20-25 bucks and would like to try to keep the price below 85$ ( thats how much a DB snorkel costs).

what should i do to modify the silencer? i plan on adding a spark arestor bTW

my ideas are as follows:

make the cannister longer in order to have more packing area

maybe have the "tube" in the inside of the cannister make some angled turns inside of the cannister and packing

build some baffles..............

give me some ideas guys, post picks of mods that you have done on your exhaust, to make it quieter!!!!

of course i will be trying to maintain power and torque but the goal is 85 db first, then modify for power.

i will keep this thread updated with picks of my progress when i get the silencer!!!!!

I can't credit this to myself, as I read it on here about a guy with an ultimate stealth KX250. Weld a tab to the end of the exhaust the makes the sound bounce off towards the ground. Also, member 625MXC (I think) has an 89DB KTm 250 EXC.. check in w/ him.
