Didn't Jeremy McGrath say the 93 CR250 was the best CR ever?

Specifically 2001, 2000 was kinda slow. 2001 engine in the 2007 chassis would be DA BOMB!

A 94-96 motor in 2007 chassis would be better :banghead:

if we talk about chassis there in no doubt that the last CR's (02-07) were the
best, enginewise the answer might be different ...
any way, it is easy to make the 02-07 run good !

Steelframe motors use smaller mounting bolts:thumbsdn: .

The 87 was way ahead of it's time the 88 was not as good the 89 had real bad head shake. Ther 90 - 96 were good the 96 liked to crack swingarms where they were welded. the 97 - 99 were way to rigid and had steering issues all of the pre 2000 motors to me were better than the newer ones. the 2000 n 2001 had great motors but the chasses still had issues the 2002- 2007 had by far the best chasses ( besides rear brake) but motors were not as tough and need help in power.

Weren't the 92's the ones that cracked the swingarm welds - I recall a report in Dirtbike on this and my 92 cracked almost immediatley after I got it.... I love the way my 01 CR250 handles and I haven't really got it set up - it's new to me!!!!!

I had a 90 CR250 that freakin ripped! I used to whoop on just about all my friends bikes with it. One particular friend had just gotten the first year alum frame cr250 (think that was 97?)... I remember we drag raced over and over and over, flat, uphill, downhill... didn't matter. I spanked him every single time :ride: I miss that bike, engine was stock AFAIK and it scared the :banghead: outta me more than a few times. But that's been over 10 years now... So it's probably more how I think it was vs what it really was. :busted:

My buddie rides a 00 honda cr250r, i hope that isnt the best year honda made. The engine suxs if u ask me, slower than shit. No bottom end power at all, He cant even get close to keeping up with my 97,01 or 04 rm250s.

His bike is weezed out then because while '01 and '04 RM250's rip, the 97 is a turd.

stock the 97 RM was real slow but with a little work they ripped, The 2000 CR are great but stock for stock the earlier CR250's seemed more powerful.

I feel Yamaha has built the best 250 for around the last 9 years. Great motor and real nuetral handling.:banghead:

Somethings wrong with your friends bike. I know the 2001 smoked all other bikes in all the comparison tests that year. ..drag races included. The 2000 is supposed to be almost identical. My bike had great low end when it was stock . It is even better now. I see lots of converted cr's in the ugliest of trails around here. I don't see half as many rms.

Not the fastest in 2001, not the best turning. They build the best 250 now ...because...they build one of the ONLY 250's now:smirk: ! The 2000 Honda had different porting and was smoother but nowhere near as fast as 01. We ride them on the ice in the winter and it really shows off the powerbands... Nothing can touch a fresh '01 out there except maybe the Husky CR250 from that era.

Mind you, other powerbands may hook up better and seem as fast, but in the pefect-traction world of ice racing, with 20lb tires, you cut through the B.S. and see which bike rips down the 1/4 mile straights.

1999 cylinder was probably strongest down low through mid and amazing on an MX track. 1994-1996 are all-around awesome.

Actually, ALL CR250 motors pretty much rock!!!!! Except 1985!
