DR.D TI/TI Pipe Alignment '08 YZ450F

Recommended Posts

Terry Beal sent me my new pipe today! Let me tell you that this pipe is the daddy! I love it! I must say I believe they spent more time on this pipe because even the welds are better!(More Uniform).I'm very happy. Fired it up for the first time with the pipe about 3 hours ago, and it sound great. It is much louder that the stock shorty pipe. Man was this ever a learning experience. For all who participated, Thanks:worthy: :banghead: W3

DRD states that with good packing, their system will be under 99db (94 with the insert). That's louder than the '08, and probably the '07, but not the '06.

Yamaha dropped the ball on their '08 exhaust. The idea of reducing the noise is admirable enough, but to use such an antiquated, ineffective technology to do that, so that it results in a poor performing exhaust system that everyone immediately wants to remove did not help the cause in any way. I was really hoping for something better.

GUYS! The huge performance difference is what's worth it, over the not so huge difference in sound. Hopes this clarifies what I meant.:banghead:

Wes I am glad this worked out. DRD stands behind their products. The only problem I see, is you will never be happy with pump gas again.....as I found out. :ride:

Hey how about a picture of your bike with that bad boy pipe on it? :busted:

totally agree with this comment,i recently purchased the 08 model and to my surprise,my dealer told me that the new pipe has to be replaced for me to be able to race here in aus, yamaha has offered to replace the stock pipe at a fee of 375 dollars the owner has to pay.the dealer said the pipe has not been passed for approval by motorcycling australia, therefore any ma sanctioned races it is illegal to use.nice work yamaha.

ps. i absolutely love the bike though.

Well, in the first place, I beliebve that the Aussie model uses a much different, full length pipe, similar to last year's US model. But not being there, I could be wrong about that. Second, the reason US riders want to replace the pipe has nothing to do with noise, or anyone's approval, it is simply that the pipe cuts too much power. That's what "poor performing" means.

hey there grey take a chill pill bud,its a bit hard to tell over the internet if there might be a touch of sarcasm in your last quote.not that it bothers me,but i was actually chimimg in on the conversation about the "poor performing" pipe that now sits in a box in my shed,i just bought the 08 model with the same muffler on it that you guys get as well, which is where my previous posts concerns are based.
