fork seals

My fork seal on the right side is leaking, and was wondering if this is something I need to take care of asap, or could I do more damage if I ride it like that? I dont have a clue on replacing the seals and know it is expensive if I take it in, so how do you do it?, is it something I could do myself by finding out what all I need and doing it at home with little mechanical skill or best left to someone that knows what they are doing? any help would be appreciated, I would rather do it myself than give some shop my money.
