Thanks to the 30 + workers that showed up for the tahuya trail work party this past Saturday.
Unfortunately 30 people does not add up to much with the 200 plus miles of trail that need a lot of work. Most of us only covered a few miles of good trail digging drainage trenches to prevent damage like some of the severely washed out trails have suffered. The heavy rains coming down really helped us be able to locate where we needed to dig out for proper drainage.
Our hats off and huge applause to the Wa Family ATV club :applause: They were the only club to turn out in large numbers. They brought out a small custon tractor thing and worked the Overland trail. They Filled in deeply "V" grooved sections of trail. This group made a huge showing on Saturday and they were not even on the Volunteer email list.
Here is the official update from the DNR: Tahuya and Green Mountain will remain closed for at least 3 more weeks, possibly longer. The gates to parking areas and camp gounds will remain closed and locked. There are cement barricades blocking all trail entrances, and regular patrols will be enforcing the trail closure.
Have a Merry Christmas.
People: we need your help to get Tahuya trails open again. My work has Christmas shut down from Dec 21st to Jan 1st. If anyone else has the Christmas holidays off please make sure you are on the Vlounteer Trail Work email list and try to make some time available. We already have a couple of offers to supply small tractors and excavators, and will be coordinator with the DNR to host a work party during the Holiday break.
