Even though I'm starting to get good at the starting 'drill', I'm still considering the exhaust cam upgrade. From what I've read, the 03 450 cam requires timing adjustments but the Hotcam does not. Is that correct? It seems like the cost is similar so what are the advantages/disadvantages of using one versus the other?

Here is the short story on the auto decompression cams.

The hot cams is a nice way to gain ADC, but the down fall is they cost more than the 450 cam and they don't perform as intended unless you buy the intake cam. I have both hot cams and the power gains are nice.

The OEM 450 exhaust cam works very well. The OEM cam broadens the power and makes the 426 a little easier to ride. They are timed slightly different, but its not hard to do.

To time the OEM cam you simply put it in time just like the 426 cam, and then rotate it one tooth counter clockwise. Once you rotate it one tooth (counter-clockwise) its in the correct time for your machine. Like I said, its not hard to do.

The choice is yours, but the majority of the guys on here go the cheaper way and get the 450 exhaust cam.
