Pretty easy actually just about all the parts are still avavilabvle through Honda for about $100. I just did mine in my '89 last month, works good. There are some tools you need that you can't get but we learn to improvise when necessary. If you have a real Honda shop manual the instructions there in are pretty basic and make the job go smooth. The Clymer manual for some reason doesn't seem to cover a shock rebuild unless I missed that part. Then again you could send it to Works Performance and have them do a "heart transplant" for around $200. Don't be afraid to do it yourself just be careful.

Had my 89' rebuilt last year for 125$. Went with a Eibach spring. Much different bike.
