I am planning on riding Saddle Mtn. this Saturday. Anyone interested? Let me know.

The weather is supposed to be Sunny but cool. We had a warm front come through and melt all the snow yesterday and today. Saddle Mtn. soil conditions should be great.

You'd be surprised how hot you can get riding trails. Anything over 32 degrees and the long johns make me sweat each time.

Your absolutely right. I wear the long johns anyway and I have grip heaters which is the main thing for me. If my feet and hands stay warm I am good to go.

Here is the extended forecast for Mattawa:

It's looking like a great day to ride.

Yep, if your there we should bump into each other (just make sure your going slow when we collide). Maybe even ride some ravines together. :busted:

Try and get some video of those guys riding down Habeck's. That is good entertainment and well worthy of "Youtube".

Here are the directions from Seattle these directions assume you know how to find and get on I90 Eastbound:

1: Merge onto I-90 E via the exit on the LEFT toward BELLEVUE / SPOKANE 135.4 miles

2: Merge onto WA-26 E via EXIT 137 toward OTHELLO / PULLMAN. 1.0 miles
(if you want I can be waiting on the side of the road just off
Exit 137 at about 9:00 and you can follow me the rest of the way. If you
were not there by 9:15 I would go on ahead and you could follow these
directions. If your coming and have a cell phone you might send me your
number privately and I will send you my cell)

3: Turn RIGHT onto WA-243. 14.3 miles

4: Turn LEFT onto 24-SW RD. 0.7 miles

5: End at Mattawa, WA US

From number 5 in the directions just follow this map Tony posted on KTMtalk. You continue straight through the town of Mattawa until you get to RD. R. Turn left onto RD. R and do just as the map says all the way to the staging area.

OMT, if you drop your camera on the trail you should be covered, I think Paul and a few buddies are planning on heading out that way too. Then they're going to Baja in January, so he could use the camera down there again and bring you back more pics .......... actually, this could work out well since I still haven't gotten him one of his own!

Heys sounds like fun. But what kind of bikes are you guys riding. I am skilled and exprienced but have never been there. I do not like getting lost. I have a 07 drz with springs, not dot dirt tires, air box mod etc...but its still a drz and HEAVY. I have found in the past that I can not keep up with full on dirt bikes.

This is not a race just a fun time. I am sure if everyone makes it who is chiming in we will have some very fast riders but that is offset by some rather mediocre riders such as myself.

My friends Alan and Katy come from OR and they quite often meet us in Mattawa. I believe the drive over through the Dalles would be rather treacherous at this time but maybe my weather reports on that area are not accurate. Alan and Katy usually spend more than a day to make the drive worth it. Not trying to discourage you but don't want to see you get in a jam.

Take a look at the picture from Mattawa a month ago. The story behind this picture is it was taken on 11/10/2007. I took the picture after Jay and I put out the fire started by my header pipe. I rode my bike through the burned out area in the picture, which was filled with dried tumble weeds that were up to my waist. I couldn't see the ground and didn't want to fall over so I was going really slow. Just as I freed myself from the tumble weeds Jay jumped off his bike and was running toward me pointing behind me. He said just as I was riding out of the tangle the flames behind me were higher than my head. Pretty Scary

Here is Jay on his XR650R just cruising and enjoying the day:

We followed those trails in the distance down from the power lines up above:

Regina, did you get the CD's I mailed you of your Baja pictures? Yep, Paul really needs my camera but he needs to learn how to use it. When I lose the camera I need to include the instruction manual with it and the battery charger.

I would love to go and I will try to figure something out. My bike is in Othello, and I live in Wenatchee. For all you coasties thats about 45 min. or so away from Vantage I rode it to Othello for Thanksgiving and it was to cold/to hungover to ride back so I left it there, I've been thinking about everyday since, it's like sending a child away to camp, I miss my bike. I want to ride!
