Anybody have experience using studded tires on the road in snowy conditions? I'm not ready to give up for the year. I've seen many brands of "do-it-yourself" tire studs, thinking about giving them a shot, to ride around town this winter on snow/ice/pavement. Anybody?

You'd probably be in a real hazy area legally. I believe that automotive tires must a classified by DOT as "stud ready" to be used that way. Also, I think that studded motorcycle tires would be more likely to slip and lose traction on wet or bare dry pavement. Quite likely they would be dangerous.

I dont know about riding with studs on the road, I have used gold cutter ice screws off road with fun results. They are slippery on the bigger rocks almost like riding on ice. Road riding with studs might be similar?
I think these would be the way to go for studding tires,
