We ride down at Brushy quite a bit. I assume that's where you'd be riding in Taylorsville. Must be nice to be close by there. It takes me about 1.5 hours to get down there. Due to the travel time, many times I just jet out to Mountain City and ride the trails at Callalantee.

I don't have any smaller pilot jets on hand. 45 is the smallest I got. I may order a few extra's.

Believe it or not I haven't been to Brushy yet.  I have a buddy w/ about 90 acres that butts right up against Brushy to the east side.  Longest loop is about 13 miles with several smaller ones to chose from as well.  The Kawasaki dealer down here right off 321 across the bridge has a few 42's in stock if you want to take the time to drive down (its raining so what else is there to do : )  ).

If you do drive down let me know and I'll come out and meet up, talk bikes and have a beer.

Sounds great! I'm parked until April unfortunately. I was hoping to get out this weekend but it doesn't appear that the rain is going to let up. I'm traveling with my daughter all through March for dance competitions. I think there's one weekend in march when she's not competing, perhaps that will give me a chance to get the old bike out for a while.

2005 Brand-New KDX220 , yes it's 10/21/09 and it came from a Kawasaki Auction.:usa:

700 ft.  +/-
modified air box lid - rear 2/3rd's removed
stock 33 mm carb
FMF desert / rev pipe
FMF Turbine core 2 silencer
FRP torque ring
13/50 gearing

Night and Day over stock , ran lousy with stock pipe and silencer.
Amazed at how much free'er it runs now and has affected the jetting alot.

I've got a 35 mm 200 carb with 607 reeds that I'm bolting on tomorrow.
I'll start with a 158 /42 and go from there.

I've got a new Wiseco piston to put in and with have the head modified for more compression at the same time ,, and clean up the stock porting.

158 /42 was too rich and ragged , changed the main to 155 and it's alot better.

The bottom end is still not as smooth as I'd like , will try a 40 slow jet.

A mid throttle this bike has some awesome power compared to the stock 33 mm carb. It will easily pull the front end in 3rd out of a corner.

It's not coughing at low end , it feels like it's gurgling.

Hey, gathered losts of info from this thread but still can't figure out what to do. I just purchased a mint condition 2001 kdx 200 all stock except for airbox lid (no snorkel) and a pro circuit platinum I pipe (the original). I ride at 0-1000ft and 0-35 celcius. I'm running from what i understand is stock jetting  at the moment and it is very rich, and alot of spooge. What would you think is the best jetting for me? anybody got any input?

Yep, that should be close! I am running about the same conditions and am running 152/42/ second clip.  I think I can probably go dwn to a 40 on the pilot, since it's still a little rich mid-range.

Take care,

Matt

06 KDX 200
900 ft above SL(temps from 40's to 90's with humidity in summer)
Main Jet 150
Pilot 42
Needle Clip in 2nd clip
Air screw 1 in a quarter
40:1  Golden Spectro @94 OCT
BR8ES plug
Mods:  FMF Woods pipe, Turbinecore 2, Airbox snorkle removed, Moose Air filter

I finally have got my bike running really well!  With the stock jetting 158 main, 48 pilot with the FMF pipe it was still running rich and spooging quite a bit.  I dropped the main dwn to a 155 and pilot to 45 and it was still smoking and spooging too much.  The last drops are working well, with very little smoke and just a little spooge running out of back of silencer.  I have done a few plug chops and both high and mid range reading look good.  Insulator a light tan color.
(update) I think I might be a little rich on in the middle, so I raised the clip to the 2nd clip on the needle, and now my air screw is adjusted to a little less than one turn out to get it from bogging at the crack of the throttle.  I might try to raise the pilot jet back up to the 45.  Still getting a little oil running off the silencer::banghead:

Lasted update: Got rid of my rev pipe and put on a woods pipe.  Dropped my main jet dwn to a 150 and it seems I have found my sweet spot, at least for the spring and summer.  I might drop the pilot dwn to a 40 and move the clip to #3.

yea anything below 150 and the bike started feeking a little flat, i ran a 40pj just fine in mine, but it ran the same with a 42, so i put it back for some more lube. the 38 was too lean, this was winter in az, im sure in summer a 38 would have been ok. when i go up to 7000ft in the summer the bike runs rich, but definatly not rich enough to complain

Yeah,  how spoiled you get with fuel injection.  I just can't believe I had 2 drop down 3 main jet sizes to get in the ballpark.  Oh well, it is still fun tuning and playing around with the jetting.

Thanks for the info josefmd, your settings should give me a baseline to compare to when I check my new KDX's jetting. It has an FMF pipe and will have the airbox snorkel removed soon so if I find something way different than your settings you guys will be hearing some questions from me.

pilot jet: 152

hows it working for you? Happy so far. Before I had pipe and reeds and went up to 7k ft I just had to play with air screw, but now w/ reeds and pipe I have to drop down my main at that elevation

Year: 2003
Model: KDX 200
Altitude/Temp: 4000-8000 ft. typical, sometimes up to 11,500 ft.
Mods: Snorkel still in place, Uni air filter, Boyesen Rad Valve (can't remember which reeds), FMF Gnarly pipe, Turbine Core II silencer, Wiseco piston (stock size), stock gearing.
Pilot Jet: 45
Main Jet: 155
Needle/Clip:#1174, 2nd position from top
Air Screw: 1 3/4 turns out
Fuel:  pump gas, 91 octane. 40:1 pre-mix ratio.

Comments: Run very, very well from idle to WOT with no sputtering or dead spots.  Biggest problem is smoking like an old steam locomotive and spooges like a Hawaiian lava flow.  Takes a 1/2 can of WD-40 to clean all the spooge off the silencer, pipe, rear tire, swingarm, shock etc. after each ride.:ride:  But runs great and amazingly never fouls a plug, even when riding all day behind my son in 1st gear at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. I'm going to try working my way down to a 152 main and 42 pilot jet to see if that will help with the spooge and smoke.
