i have a very nice and low hours yzf 426 2002.i ride it in weekends near my home and i love this bike a lot except its a little heavy and it stalls in slow corners.i have never ride a new 450 and i d like to read your opinions about this 2 bikes!the handling 100% is 450 no question about it!what about the power?the 450 is a lot different from 426?i read somewhere that my bike have more 'snap' and the 450 is more 'linear'?owners of 426 before and 450 now do you think you miss something on your new bike that your old 426 had?!its time to sell my bike now that it is in a very good shape?

like the 426's, the 450's vary year to year with 'snappyness' and similar atributes. Grab the search bar and look for 426 vs 450 or something similar and i'm sure you'll get a ton of threads. Good luck

Power is more linear on 450s than the 426 - but not that much different - just a little more of it
You can add flywheel weight to the 426/450 to aid in stalling in tight corners
450 will feel 30lbs lighter
Also no starting drill on the 450 - just jump on it and kick
426s are nice the 450s are just nicer.

at first i didn't like the power band hit in my 426...now i love it:ride:

the bulk isn't to much of a problem for what I ride but I could see it being an issue for tight long single track

the starting drill and some of the stalling problem would be fixed with a cam mod...

I'm just saying that if you get a hella deal on a clean 426 take it and add some mods. but I'd take a 450 if someone was giving it to me....

The 03 450 I had, it had more snap than my old 426. The 06 450, not as much snap but better than either one of the older bikes in every way. It really all comes down to $$$ and what you're satisfied with.

I bought a used 426 a year ago and taught myself maintenance and racing on it. With the cam mod I got from here and jetting, my bike starts easier then my friends stock 05 cr450. It is awesome to see his face when I two kick my 426 off the truck and it is running. He spanks me once we are on the track, but I still smile knowing I got there first! There is a place about two hours from my house selling 08 450's for under 6,000 out the door. All fees, doc, tax everything. If it wasn't just before xmas I would be on it! My two cents!
