Are the CDI's on XRL's known to fail often or what? I noticed on another site that 2 different people are wanting spares for long rides. What else would be handy to have for possible breakdowns other than the normal things. Tubes, sparkplugs, chain, etc

Judging by the number of XRLs in the world, and the number of CDI failures, its actually quite rare.

But, on a bike where almost nothing ever breaks, something has to be the weak link.

Usually (not always) the CDI gives notice by acting funky- works, dies, let it rest, works for awhile, etc.

I had some weirdness occur, picked a cdi up for 90 or so, problem never recurred but I still ride with the spare.
