xr650 road use

Recommended Posts

CRF: if it looks like oil is seeping from the lines at the screen junction, it's probably the washers. They don't look like much, but they are actually very soft and act as crush washers. If they've lost all their crush, they might not be sealing properly. 14mm and 12mm if I'm not mistaken.

im 16 to, i bought a brand new 07 XR650R and ive got 3250 miles on it in 3 months. All ive done is change the oil and check the valves. The manual says 600 miles on the oil then it has to be changed, ive put 1000 on mine and it wasnt even that dirty. It's a great bike on the road with the right gearing, and it comes road legal in europe.

It should do 100 MPH fine with 15-45 gearing, and it accelerates as fast as hell, pulls 2nd gear wheelies with just a twist of the throttle. Very light and fun as hell in supermoto trim.

It will be a great bike! and you should be able to put 10,000+ miles on it without problems.

Nice bike!...what kind of wheels are those? What did it take to make them work on your XR? They look bad a--!!

And they dont sell road legal here in uk, sucks.

So. . There fast enough. Oil change about every 1500miles, and valve check how often?

Obvisely chain, pads, tyres etc. Il watch. Any thing more in depth?

Thanks again.

I picked up a really clean 650R and converted it for street... great bike... depends how you work the throttle but the range is around 100 miles.... my quickest tank was 81 miles.... change the oil every 900-1000 miles and its fairly clean....

one question.... how does a 16 year old afford a brand new xr650r?

...a 16 year old affords a bike by working:bonk: ...sense i dont have to pay taxes, pay bills, or buy food i can make money pritty fast, only took me about 2-3 years of saving.

Insurense is $136 a year! because im on my fathers insureense policey

Those wheels on my bike are marchesini's, you can buy them to specifilaly fit the 650R.

Nothing personal, don't get me wrong, but judging from your spelling, I would spend a little of your money on a Webster.

whats a webster?!

Webster Dictionary is the name given to English language dictionaries in the United States. Noah Webster was an American lexicographer, "Father of American Scholarship and Education".

In the United States, the phrase Webster's has become a genericized trademark for dictionaries.

From what I have read about him, he seems similar to England's great lexicographer, Dr. Samuel Johnson.

Think OED, (Oxford English Dictionary) UK, think Webster, USA.

NOT to be confused with a Weber, which is a barbecue. A very good barbecue may I add, and a wonderful addition to any patio.

On a personal note, typos aside, I hate to read posts littered with spelling mistakes and bad grammar. It is most discombobulating !

Have you ever read posts on YouTube? Most posts are illegible and seem written by 5 year olds. YouTube is a forum for semi-literate morons to hide behind their keyboards and type misspelled curse words to strangers.

I don't want to discourage people from posting questions, and I don't want to sound too self-conceited, but I just hate to see blatant laziness, or lack of effort in any shape or form.

If certain people maintain and work on their motorcycles with the same effort and attention to detail as reflected in their spelling, then I fear for the welfare of their motorcycles.

A 16 year old can afford a bike by working. Since I don't have to pay taxes, bills, or buy food, I can make money pretty fast. It only took me 2-3 years of saving.

Insurance is $136 a year, because I am on my father's insurance policy.

Over the line, Smokey! I'm sorry. That's a foul.

This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.

HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE CRAZY?

AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO GIVES A SH#T ABOUT THE RULES?

MARK IT ZERO!

Yeah, we tend to be a bit casual with our respect for our version of the English language, here in the States. No excuse for it, really.

I suppose the upside is that in a couple of years he, or his buddy down the street, or his older brother, or his sister will volunteer to put on a uniform, pick up a gun and travel half way round the world to put his life on the line to help a country try to be free. Same as a Brit or an Aussie or a Cannuck would do.

My guess is he's a good guy. Doesn't excuse poor diction. :-). But, he's still a good guy.

We're all on the same side here. Let's put this topic to bed, shall we?

Ride safe, all.

besides it having that horrible rear light assembly, ugly tank and fairing. various top end problems, pretty flat power in comparison, an ancient engine that honda cant be bothered too re design. it is a pretty nice bike, but not for me thanks. i dont think an xrs gonna work with my mileage/needs. gonna have too go more like a transalp or varadero route. . :worthy:

Okay, but have you RIDDEN one? My main DS ride is an XR650R., but recently a buddy let me put a tank of gas through his L. That experience gave me a whole new perspective--and appreciation--of the L.

There's a reason Honda hasn't made any big improvements to the L: it works.

You should do yourself a favor and at least ride one before you judge it, imho.

soo. .xrr maintenance vs xrl

oil change. . 1500miles for r

? or l?

filters?

what are they both like compared too an xr400?

torque, speed?

would an l be quicker than the xr400, but worst offroad?

it seems very practical, but i dont really like the look. but if ti works, it could be changed.

annd, i cant ride one. there rare over here, and even if i do find one. its very unlikely too be restricted too 33bhp (what im legally restricted too, hah. like im gonna stay at that) so i couldnt ride it anyway. . if you get me?

and views of the dr650 aswell please

remembering, 70/30 road/off road

commuting 20miles and day, well over 10hours of riding most weeks. :worthy:

wooo!

anyway, yer...xr650r vs. xr650l vs650l

reliability? comfort is not an issue, passenger usage?

off road ability, power/torque. i dont want a flat boring bike. i want too be having fun. its for fun, not a tool. if i wanted a tool id get a big scooter or a car. :worthy:
