lurking in other forums is legal right....hell I do it daily......:worthy:
The valve issues are not apparent in a 06-08 CRF...sorry guys that is moot.
I agree with Grey ride both then make a decision......either way both are great bikes.....I could as well be on either today......Honda finally turns and yami does too.......both have their own ideosychroses - set up is key for the individual rider..........both are fine machines.....:worthy:

I have an 06 crf450x that is 9 months old and has had the valves done 3 times. The group of guys I ride with consists of 4 Honda's, and 3 Yamahas. Every single Honda has had to reshim the valves multiple times and missed riding weekends because of it, and not one of the Yamaha's has had any sort of reliablility issue. Two of the guys spent $600 on Kibblewhite SS valve to try and eliminate this problem.

I used to be a hard core Honda guy, but I have to swallow my pride and give credit where credit is due, and Yamaha has earned my business.

I used to love Hondas......now, my garage is full of Yamahas (7 yamahas -including the new Nytro MTX snowmobile- and one KX65.....if only there was a YZ65!!) Over 100 hours on my 450 and zero issues. Starts up first kick 90% of the time, the second kick 9.9%. They have earned my trust and money.

Valve issues ARE apparent in 06-08 Crf's. I see them in the shop all week long. I have to thank Mr. Honda for that though. It will be a good Christmas this year!!!!!! However, they are not as apparent from 06-08 but still there. A little secret from the Honda race team: Use the stainless valves from the TRX 450 quad from the get- go, and you MIGHT be one of the lucky ones.
