Folks, I'm on the Verge of Going RED!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it, I may be actually going to the dark side - RED that is...So sad to think that I won't be asking dumb questions here any longer.

Tomorrow's another day and as you all know when agonizing on which color to get, I'm sure to change my mind a few more times before the sun rises! :goofy:

We'll see what color I end up bleeding in the morning, but as of this moment, 5:53pm on Friday, Oct 26, 2007, I'm seeing RED.? :foul::moon::ride:?? :p :prof::bonk::mad::eek:  :worthy::crazy::worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

Don't be to hasty. I am currently trolling this site because I went red and I am thinking of changing colors after a nice 'short' talk with Honda customer service. I have had my 06 450x for 9 months and had to do the valves 3 times already. I like the bike .....when it runs, but for a weekend warrior, 3 valve jobs in 9 months is getting to be ridiculus. On the up side, I was assured by Steve at Honda customer service "there is no problem".

Do your homework.

At least you'll be good at adjusting the valves!:worthy:

i have a 2006 250x and love this bike. havent checked the valves yet. i will in about a month, hope to see the correct valve lash. but no matter what bike you decide to buy, make sure you buy the correct one for what you plan on riding. dont buy a super motocross bike for the woods or a 250x for the motocross track. good luck and wear a helmet.......

And on their forum, they swear there's no longer valve issues like in the past.

My concern as well, but I'm hoping that Honda has worked out many of the kinks by 2008.

From my understanding. Red bikes obviously DO have a valve problem. However, not nearly as bad as most people will talk them up to be. But, when comparing the Honda to the Yami in the valve department, its not even close, I would love to see a Honda go 100 hours without needing an adjustment.

I may not be the greatest rider, but im a fairly fast B rider, and I do rev my bike alot. I also ride indoor tracks and don't shift when I am indoors. Needless to say, my bike hasn't had it easy yet it still runs like the day I got it.

Sure the Honda may have a harder-hitting motor, and that steering stablizer, but the YZ's have excellant stability, and can very easibly made just as hard hitting.

For me, the choice would be simple. You know how your Blue bike does on maintance, so its your choice.

My .02

I've just turned 50hrs on my '07 450x... My valve clearances are within spec, and I haven't had a single issue with the bike.

Wow, where did all the RED riders come lurking from out of the "blue" here?

I guess they come in packs and are pretty supportive of their brand...Good to see.

Do they still make CRF's? ...................... Just kidding. The CRF's look really good, but they all sound like someone threw a handful of marbles in the crank case. I think the engine noise would drive me nuts.
