I use Ready Racing stainless filters. I change the oil and filter every 4 rides, so they are worth the money.

They filter from the outside in, so I spray the outside with carb cleaner, wait a minute or so, and blow it off with compressed air.

I thought seriously about them before. I decided to go with paper filters because they're cheap enough and they work better.

Buy paper filters and toss them. You could buy a LOT of HiFlow filters for the price of a stainless one. The filter is the same as a popular Honda ATV, so that makes them less expensive.

I have the stainless filter in my 06 and I couldn't be happier. I just thought, what's the sense in having to go out and buy the paper filters everytime I change my oil when I can just clean and reinstall? It pays for itself in the long run. And I don't have to worry about getting another filter if I have to change my oil in a desolate place. But that's just my opinion. :)

The stainless filters aren't up to a paper filter's filtering capabilities yet. Stick to paper!

My advice would be to use paper until your bike cleans out the "worms" on the oilscreen (see all threads about this as it could save your bike). Then switch to a re-usable steel filter. I havent had any problems. Change oil every 5-8 hrs and wash with the carb cleaner and blow it out like one of the previous posters said. Most of us on here dont have sponsors to pay for all of the stuff like paper filters and high priced oils etc. Sometimes you just gotta remember its a dirtbike dude, not a NASA rocket.

I don't have a sponsor to buy my filters, but I can buy a $3 or less HiFlo filter to protect my almost $7000 investment. If you use a half can of carb cleaner, you will have spent a $1 or 2.

$3, really. How is it that up here in Canada where our money is worth more than the old greenback they cost like $12-$15. Man are we ever getting ripped off!
