2008 KX450F. Well I just read it and it's not very good. They claim it's poor handling and has a sissified engine. Not at all what I expected; then again they've always seemed to be Honda & Yami guys. Their claims contradicted what so many of us that have them and have lived with them have learned over time like the correct fork height setting (they were at 5mm) and the fact that the PC linkage doesn't work very well with it (they claim it's a must-have). Oh well, I'll just have to enjoy my sissified POS all by myself.:p

Motocross.com tested and they were super stoked with it. They said the motor was awesome and it carved any corner they wanted too. Ironic ehh?

Yeh, very ironic. What you said above is all I've ever heard from anyone about it. Hard to explain why they reviewed it that way if you ask me; I suspect ulterior motives. :excuseme:

Has anyone read the test in the newest Dirt Bike?? They said basically all the opposite things of MXA. Turns great, more power than any 450 but more controllable this year, etc. Something is not right in the MXA offices!!

Check MXA over time and you will notice Kawasaki does not advertise much compared to the others. Not a coincidence they are never rated well.

No way anyone calls the 08 KXF motor pussified. the 07 and 08 Yami 450 motor yes, but the Kawi? no way.

In fact last year they said the KXF was the fastest corner to corner of any bike.

They did claim the '07 was slightly more powerful than the '08; down 2hp by their measurements.

I really suspect that they already have their '08 450F shootout winner's deal signed & sealed and are just beginning to justify their actions. What a load! And I subscribed to them this year for the first time in decades. I used to get subscriptions every year for Christmas when I was a kid.

I'm sure we will hear how wonderful the new Yami turns, and sucks up bumps, and, and ,and...

They will talk about how the new exhaust loads up the motor but a simple DrD exhaust pipe change and you will have the most "usable", "rideable", "yada, yada"...

any bets?

Yep, you will here the same ol, same ol....

The best review you can have, is the one with yer own azz on the bike. No one is better qualified than yourself to give an opinion of how the bike feels...

TWMX gave the bike rave reviews….but they also said the 08 450 Yami has an awesome engine and if you read any of the posts here you know that’s not what the people are saying.

Bottom line read with suspicion and make your own decision.

No they hated the way the yamaha turns and said the motor was weak. I think they like the kawasaki better. Honda or suzuki will probably win the shootout. I think all of the bikes are good these days and it just comes down to rider preference etc.

The only ride reports I read is TWMX... And average riders here on TT. The only ones I think worth buying are CRF 450,KX 450,still to review RMZ 450 all the others your not gonna blow a load over.

Yeah but I bet if you added one more tooth to the rear sprocket that would fix everything... Thats their standard fix for every bike made.

Those guys are so full of crap. They realy should change the name of the magazine from MXA to MSU (Makin $h!t UP).

Haha! Did you read the review yet? They actually did suggest it for the KX450F. I'm not sure if the paper version of the mag is out yet I get the e-version.

I prefer RacerX. At least you get more than one opinion and the riders are not always the same. Still, I always read evrything and just pick out the similarities.

I've been doing some TT research on the PC Linkage and I may have mis-spoken in the original post when I implied that most here that tried it didn't like it. Actually, it seemed to be a bit of a mixed bag, some liked it and some didn't although it seemed to me like the majority did like it.
I was intrigued by the fact that they (MXA) claimed it lowered the rear by 12mm. Since I'm not as tall as many here (5'9") I wondered if that wouldn't be a good thing?

From what i understand, MXA already tested the 08 yamaha and they thrashed it completely. Kinda disproves the theory that they are yamaha guys.
