07 450 handgaurds

Recommended Posts

I just bought an 07 450, I'm planning on doing all the mods but the gray wire mod, not sure about that one yet. I was wondering what hand gaurds you guy's are using. I was going to get the d-flex from rockymountainmc but they don't fit. I took the ones off my KDX and they hit the clutch. If anyone has some pics that would be great. Thanks

PS I tried searching for this and didn't find anything:bonk:

garr - check this thread out (and the one within) https://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=527529&highlight=cycra+shiz

Many go with Cycra Probends (I did, too) - they're a little more expensive, but well worth the money in terms of protection AND performance (have had several hard impacts from front and side and they're bomb proof). Good luck.

what he said, I have the Cycra Probend Enduro guards (handlebar mount). A lot of TT members have expressed that the triple clamp mounts are better but i have no complaints about my set up.

I've got cycra probends on my 07 duel sported wr 450 .they fit with all the extra

stuff on my bars I've got the clamp ons .I think the ones that replace the upper bar mount would fit just a little nicer and cleaner on my application , with the mirrors and the turn signal switch

I have Moose which I modified by drilling a hole about 12mm inboard of the factory hole. This put the Moose bar mounts for the Pro-Taper a little further out making them fit the handlebar much better and provides a much stronger bond between the guard bar and the mount. It also shortens the guard bar a bit making it harder to bend.

I also used about 12mm of washers between the guard bars and the handlebar mounts that pushes the guard bars forward and away from the clutch adjustment.

It's like the hand guard and the handlebar are one piece!

I had the Accerbis ones installed, and they also hit the clutch. I had to cut down the clutch level a little (the round nob is removed and a tad more). It actually works good for the old 2 finger feather the clutch.

Ditto. I put the Acerbis ones on first and they flat out sucked.

Its all about the Fastway handguards. They have replacement bar clamps and the guard mounts to those. Best system I have ever seen. Doesn't scar or damage the bars like every other bar clamping brand.

After my frustration with the Acerbis ones, I shelled out the cash and bought the Fastway system. They are awesome. I couldnt be happier. They have already lasted twice as long and look nice and clean. Dont waste your money on anything else. It's all about the Fastway System. I got mine through the TT store for a great deal.

............. bahhh

+1 for the Cycra Pro Bends, my only suggestion would be the universal or "U" shaped mounts that clamp on to the handle bars. I don't know how well they would withstand a hard impact but the stadard 3D bar mounts get in the way of my clutch cable and limit the position options for the clutch perch. The tripple clamp mounts are a bitch with the head light and everything.

I've got the MSR bars and shields. Awesome bang for the buck

I have the Acerbis with the triple clamp mount. I love the mount but the Acerbis can't stand up to much abuse. I was riding Reiter Pit this weekend, going up the Lake Isabel trail and just tipped over. The Acerbis bent like a pop can.

I could've sworn somebody already said It's all about the Fastway System

Were you up past the old bridge to this point?

You gotta love Reiter, what does not kill you makes you faster but it sure is a hard on your bike

We made it up to that bridge. There were about 5 guys on quads that said they were hiking from that point. I figured if they were hiking, we had better just turn around there.

What a day. I bent the Acerbis, bent my rear brake rotor, broke the start button and went for a swim. I don't think I have ever been fully submerged in all my gear before.

I did the same thing, works good for me. Also had a set on my YZ, took a beating. Two thums up here.
