For the 08 KXF450:

1. Springs and valving
2a. Dirt Trick's Ironman Sprocket 1yr warranty on wear! (www.dirttricks.com)
2b. RK Chain
3. Hammerhead shifter +15mm or +20mm

Nothing else needed. Seriously!

Ok, I completely over looked the very first thing I do....set up the suspension! bone headed this one, but it is fixed now.

If you had cash just burning a hole in yer pocket and wanted to go balls to the walls this is what I would do:

MB1 revalve
White Bro's Aluminum Pro or Carbon fiber system
BRP lower chain guide (1 year warranty)
Fresh 756RR's tires front and back
Twin Air filters
Jetting kit (take your pick from who)
ASV levers
Works Connection Clutch Adjuster
DeVol Racing hole shot device (Slap shot)
Renthal Aluminum sprockets/Gold chain

and a friggin seat belt to hold yer azz in place, your gonna need it!!!

Probably boring, but the best mods you can do are suspension related. Revalving if necesary and proper spring rates.

Do the ap mod for throttle responce. I also did some minor port work when i had the engine apart( top end). Nothing major just cleaned up the casting and blended the seats. Definately snappier. Added one tooth to the rear sprocket, fmf powercore slip on and i'm on the second revision on the shock, which works awesome now, and the first revision on the forks. The forks still need a couple more shims to be perfect. Also pro circuit linkage, and slide the forks up in the clamps, i have mine at about 10 mm to the bottom of the fork caps. The bike is working very well now, my best bike ever.

I went to the Team Green web site and did everything they recommended. Jetting (changed main and leak jets), suspension ( two sizes softer rear spring, clicker settings) and gearing (13/48). This bike rocks!
Unless you are at the Pro level (or just have lots of disposable income) motor mods are NOT necessary.

No problem, here ya go. It's from a 2005 KDX220, you can order it from Kawi. It has a plastic tab that the shroud bolt goes through to hold it in place. Fits about 1/2" or so back from the radiator so it doesn't impede air flow. I had to slightly mod my rad braces to fit it. You see the old crease in the rad brace back from the screw? I flattened that out and put a new bend in it right by the screw. Everything fit fine. Been using it a while and never lose coolant. Thanks to art for telling me about this. I still owe him some gas for it. I take unleaded, high octane. :busted:

That's a very clean set-up!
You might want to re-think the Devol radiator guards for motocross use though. I had them on a KX 250F and small rocks from other bike's roost go right through them and cause a lot of damage to the radiator fins over time. I have removed them and put the stockers back on.
