Riding it? How can you not ride an XR650R if you have one? I will be doing a few Enduros and Hare scrambles locally to keep in shape, and to show the boys it can do it all. Lots of orange bikes here, can not wait to roost a few of them, just to show them what torque is all about! Planning to go home to SD, spent time with the family and do the Baja 1000 race in 08 with my bros.

Would be my bike of choice for the 1400 miles.
Good luck- its going to be a long day- night- day...
Remember my motto, "No crash, no break, good day"

I bought a brand new 2007 a few months ago. This is my first motorcycle I have owned. I have ridden a few though and I Love the 650R. I used to ride and race Quads out here in the So.Cal Desert but got the bug to ride bikes and man is it great. I just got the word from my wife that for my 30th Birthday and Christmas everyone in the Family is going to Give me Money to do Mods. to the BRP!!!!! So far the List is:
Suspension Mods By Pecision Concepts
New Header and Tip
Precision Concepts Carbon Fiber Fork Guards
IMS Foot Pegs
Smog Pump Block Off
And Right now I am trying to figure out about going to a larger rear tire(what size) and possibly a larger Front tire (what do you guys think?)

Smog removal is a good idea, its a pain in the ass but makes it run much cleaner and is suppost to add 2 HP and it wieghts almost 2 pounds.

MT18HD Pirreli tire up front and don't forget to cut out the restriction on the manifold. The jetting is a must have now also. Take it to PC in El Cajon to do your suspension and tell em to fix the jetting, smog related crap and grease where it needs it. Skid plate is a good idea too. Where in SoCal are you?Don't forget the Bridgestone ultra HD tubes.

XR4DEZ,

I live in Alpine. I have always taken my stuff to Bob @ Precision Concepts. I guess He moved up to the Temecula shop though and someone else is at the El Cajon shop. I am so Excited to finish this thing up.

Still the same quality work at either place. PM me and we'll hook up for a ride around PC West. Chris
