I'm looking to add a fuel filter between the tank and the carb on my xr400. Any recommendations on a particular filter? What size is the fuel line? It looks like a 1/4" tube... just making sure.

Thanks!

I don't have one yet but I think many here use the plastic see thru ones. like below. Others are available but seem pretty expensive for what it does. Just dbl check the ID first. I think I'll order a few now myself.

Happy trails

I have the Visu Fuel Filter 701C from XR Bill's link above.
It is small and compact........

I paid twice that much for it at my local Honda Dealer

This is the set up I've used. The hose was installed on the tank petcock and the carb inlet without any retaining clips, so far so good. The hose changes color over time but thats the only problem I have seen. :ride:

Nice find XR Bill! What's up with the 'catalyst' filter??

I think I'm going to get one like the 701c with the sintered bronze element... they seem to work well.

Absolutly!! You can get these at any auto parts chain for next to nothing. They even have them in 90deg if you need one.

I have an IMS 4gal tank on my XR400, so I use the 90 degree Visu fuel filter http://www.bikebandi...roduct/A5078360
With a 90 degree filter the fuel line segments are nearly straight and therefore less likely to fatigue and crack.
