i am riding ironman in a 24 hr race end of the month, wondering if anyone can suggest a comfortable seat for my 04 xr400. the rear of the stock seat feels like i am sitting on the frame. also my left footpeg is sagging & wondered if anyone makes a cure for that. thanks for any input.

XR's only offers different density seat foams (firm, soft, stock). Check for bent stuff on the footpeg.

On the seat, two options:
Look for a thicker foam seat like a Moose seat, or hop on a friend's KTM. That will make your seat feel really soft.

ON the footpeg, hopefully you just need a new footpeg, it is probably bent.

When I bent my LH peg mount it was the round tubing that the pin goes through was oval shaped and I had replace it with a thicker piece of tubing. The bracket going to the frame was slightly bent. But when I replaced the tubing I just welded it in so that the peg was level to compensate for the bent mount.

I Am Using "corbin Saddles"
Depending On Your Leg Length
Shorter People Who Have Ridden My Bikes
Feel That The Seat Is Too Wide For Kick Starting
I Have A Very Long Inseam So Had The Saddle Made With 3/4" Extra Foam Padding

I Consider It A Couch Compared To The Stock Seats On Long Suspension Motorcycles

I have a http://www.gutsracing.com seat on my XR400 and XR250. The tall medium foam is a perfect all day seat for me on these bikes. You have to purchase the seat foam and seat cover seperately and assemble the seat on your stock seat base yourself though. I never asked them, but they would probably put it all together for you if you sent them your stock seat also.

A good auto or marine upholstery shop should be able to either replace or add a new firmer piece of foam over the existing foam. I do canvas and interiors on yachts, so all my riding friends (make) me do their seats. I just did an XR600 seat before I log on here. Its not that hard, you need to find someone local to get the foam from and a staple gun. Auto shops that do tops should have Landou foam, its comes in 1/4" thickness. One or two pieces just on top of your foam would do what you want and you could still use your existing cover.
