THUMPERTALK RATED XXX ????

Recommended Posts

For the first time ever I have been blocked from TT while at the office....Being one of the Network Engineers for my company I decided to investigate. After a long talk with my security team and a couple of hours of poking around inside the firewall, We found that the IP address assigned to Thumpertalk was previously assigned to a pornographic website. A pretty well known one at that. This IP has been blocked by numerous companies in an attempt to keep the Lounge Lizzards from skin surfing during business hours. If this has happened where I work, I'm sure that it's happening elsewhere....

Any Chance on getting a clean IP assigned to TT ?

Bonzai ?

I found the same thing here. We run a program called Surfcontrol and it locked out Thumpertalk with the new ip. But since I'm also the admin of the network, I just added it to the allow group of IP's.

> nslookup www.thumpertalk.com

Server: bvnms01.ne.ipsvc.net

Address: 24.128.8.74

Non-authoritative answer:

Name: www.thumpertalk.com

Address: 64.125.82.248

Looking at the headers it redirects you to http://207.71.8.150/bike/index.htm but:

> nslookup 207.71.8.150

Server: bvnms01.ne.ipsvc.net

Address: 24.128.8.74

Name: www . spezialanbieter . com

www . spezialanbieter . com

Address: 207.71.8.150

Reverse DNS says that IP belongs to another site.

> nslookup www . spezialanbieter . com

www . spezialanbieter . com

Server: bvnms01.ne.ipsvc.net

Address: 24.128.8.74

Non-authoritative answer:

Name: www . spezialanbieter . com

www . spezialanbieter . com

Address: 195.35.1.102

Forward lookup of that site says it has a different IP alltogether.

...so it looks like DNS has not been fully updated yet - quite possibly a mistake from the other site in question.

My internet service is a "clean" service. Hence my e-mail address.(darinh@cleanlink.net)

My brother is the co-owner so I feel like I should help support him in the ever competitive server market.

So it looks like a matter of time before the IP address will be found and blocked from me too.

Not that I cant get them to unblock it, but its the hassle factor.

I went the website for the program the had TT blocked (Websense) and emailed them. They fixed it right away. That's probably the easiest way to fix it if your a poor sap like me and aren't the sys admin dude.

I knew that 4-strokes were racey, however, not THAT racey! ?

I guess nothing of this complexity (moving the site to a dedicated box) goes off without a hitch. We do have a new, clean IP address, however, it can take up to 72 hours to propagate. Because of this some of our friends may not be able to get to us for a few days.

Cheers!

Bryan
