Stant #'s for Radiator Cap & T-stat

Recommended Posts

Anyone have the Stant, Napa or any common part # for the 1.6 XR650R rad cap?

Same question, t-stat?

Don't know why this data is so top secret. A forum search turned up very little info. Same with google.

The Kaw KX500 1.8 cap part # is 49085-1059, about $25.

Hit the jackpot finally, well maybe. To answer my own question, at least for the rad cap, the Stant website only shows two caps for the small metric rad necks, one of which has the 22-24 lbs shown on XR's Only and SRC websites.

Measuring my BRP rad neck and rad cap, looks like either the Stant 10361 0r 10362 will fit. So, until I can get the caps in my hands, these two Stant numbers look promising and may give the BRP rider a couple of options:

Honda OEM 1.1

Stant 10361 (19-21 pounds) 1.4 $30 partsamerica.com

Stant 10362 (22-24 pounds) 1.6 $30 partsamerica.com

Kawasaki KX500 49085-1059 1.8 $25 ronayers.com

Caveat...as far as I know, only the Honda and Kawasaki caps will fit. Haven't tried the Stants, but both should fit.

Now to figure out the t-stat question...

lol, that's funny cause I just bought a t-stat about a week ago. I'd have sworn I had the receipt floating around somewhere...

anyway, can't give you the PN, but the stat for a '90 Suzuki Swift with the 1.3L engine is the one you want. Comes in a 160*, a 180*, & who knows what else version. Drill a 1/8" bypass hole in the flange & drop it in.

That's a start! I even have a Suzuki Sammie in the driveway that uses the same 1.3 motor. Probably have an old Samurai t-stat to do a trial fit...and then source a Stant #.

Also lets some coolant flow even if the stat gets stuck closed.

Also lets coolant flow so hot coolant from the head will reach the Tstat so it will open when needed(sooner). There could be quite a difference in temps between the cylinder and where the Tstat is located if there is no flow at all.

I took my original Honda Tstat (which was stuck wide open as they all will be) with me to the auto parts store. Find one the same size and temp you want and drill the hole as stated.
