Who makes the loudest, most power-adding pipe for the XR650L

Recommended Posts

Vote Hillary! She will fix all our riding area's and make all bikes be quite forever!

You sound police como pinko nazi lets be nice guys make me sick:banghead:

you sound like one of the Californicator moto-squids we have to pick up after they rape and trash the trail system (every year) we work so hard for. if you really think butting heads with "them"/ going against the grain, and not playing by the rules will work for your cause, please move to another country. I am sure the remaining responsible Californians would appreciate it.

please don't bash on me for preaching, but if you ride off-road - especially if you ride trails on public lands, let's keep our bikes quiet. "more sound equals less ground" or, should I say: "less sound equals more ground"
? I can't understand why people think a loud pipe is the best.

I couldn't resist this...blast from the past.

I don't have to go out on a limb when I say that loud pipes are so George Michael...There's lots of reasons why its GAY to have a loud pipe, especially if you have a loud pipe for noise's sake...

My point is, you fag guys think that quiet will make the greenies like you more are way off base. My bike is only loud enough to have the bike breath the best it can to match the intake. I have a big can with lots of packing to make it as enjoyable sound wise for the ride and a spark arestor to make sure there is no fire. I am 98db's at 2000rpm but, that isn't quiet enough nor is 96db or 90 db for you sound police. You guys think you are doing your part? What is good for you is to loud for another, think you are being nice while your ride another sees you as distroying the planet or harassing the animals. If you are on a bike having fun you are not taking care to this planet in one way or another. No matter what you are making someone un-happy bottom line. So, stop riding your bike!?

Silly boys, it's a XR650R BRP, not a electric scooter!

How many sound police here are running stock muffler? Stock not drilled out or the stock baffle removed. Ya, that is what I thought..........

Vote Hillary! She will make it better!

there is an excessive point to noise. i run a e2 slipon with stock header. it is really loud with the open tip in it and somewhat loud with the spark arrestor tip. i keep the spark arrestor tip in most of the time cause i know i may go offroad at any time and dont want to start a fire in our tinderbox called nevada. i will put the open tip in for blasts down the hiway, the louder noise i beleive can be a benefit.

also, how can these harley a**holes run open straight pipes and not catch any s***? i'm sick of those pricks right now cause its "Street VIbrations" in reno right now. i live in carson city, so its on the way to reno for all the doctors/lawyers in leather to get to their little beat off celebration.

Like I said, the harley's are to loud but, you have an after market muffler and that is OK but, screw everyone else and what they are doing because it bothers you. The guy down the street thinks the same about your bike as you do about the Harley's. Then you got a guy that sneaks around back yards to ride but, it's ok for him but, everyone else better ride in the riding area. It's ok, for one but, but, but, I can do it if I look both ways. I am not a harley guy and I don't like a loud street bike for me but, for them the extra vibration makes their day.

I like to think out of sight out of mind. Same goes for sound. If they don't hear you off in the distance you'll shouldn't cross their minds. Off their radar so to speak. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. But in this case it's your ass they're greasing. If I'm nowhere near you I shouldn't hear you. Now that said who am I to say how you should enjoy the great out doors. Just like the Lesbian bra burning hippies shouldn't tell me nature is there for all to enjoy so long as your walking or hiking.?

People thrashing trails leaving there budwieser cans and trash has nothing to do with riding. These are just lazy people that are going to thrash any place they go. There was a place that everyone rode close to where I live that we cleaned up the left trash and groomed the table tops. Away from everyone.....got closed anyways because of one screemiong lady that didn't like the bikes there. She stayed with it for two years till they closed it fist because of Safty, weel that didn't work the owner stepped up and made it work so, we could ride again. then it was because of fire. Now it is closed for good. Did any bike or people start fires? No, did the noise bother anyone? Three miles from the nearest house. Was there crazy riders getting hurt? You bet! Stupid riders from the city that didn't have a clue, tons. The guys with there bandanas, tat's out, no shirt with the little three year old sitting on the tank of their quad, everywhere! Leaving their beer cans and dipers everywhere. Are these losers riders? No. PLace was kept clean anyways. Has nothing to do with losers, it has to do with giving support to the thought that if you ride a bike you are breaking the law. 98% of people do not ride or care if you ride. then 2% of people that own bikes realy ride a lot anyways.

They close South Beaumont by the chicken ranch, first, no trash, real riders, no houses for many miles, no one calling in, it was just not right that bikes should be riding on that land. Oh, wiat it was BLM and county.....so, they gave tickes to those that parked on the city side of the streem. What does 98bd compared to 96db have to do with anything miles from houses and not a living thing to be seen? The isn't even a tree for as far as the eye cans see except for by the streem. Can anyone hear the bikes? No but, sure is important to make sure noone rides a bike in Riverside County and you feed into this? All puffed up like you on some save the world by making you bike more quiet? All the while you ride one of the biggest dirt bikes made? Tell others to keep there bikes quiet while you sneek around riding where you don't belong? We are talking riding on BLM land (where it is legal) and private land gets closed down and it's not because we are doing something wrong. It's because no one will tell you PC guys to SHUT UP! Now they are going to make all street bikes, cars making any noise more then 75' away gets a ticket. We need more rules! Vote Hillary! She will fix it for us!!!! Next time one of you have the balls to ride your bike fast enough to catch me. Let me know how you feel about how loud my bike is..............

I think you're mixing up replies from more than one person, cupcake.

Anyway, there's a big difference between riding with the type of muffler you describe, and 'the loudest one possible'.

Bikes sure as hell don't need to be silent, but some of us really need to be as quiet as possible because we are in close proximity to lots of other folks.

I agree 100% that you could make bikes silent, and the greenies would find another point to complain about, but an unreasonably loud bike (for the area where it is going to be used) will play a part in converting those that are otherwise neutral into active opponents.

I know a fellow that lives close to the *only* legal trail riding spot in central CT and guess what- if he could get the place closed down if he could. Why?

Not because of people riding with reasonably loud aftermarket pipes, but because there are enough yahoos that ride with obscenely loud pipes, over 100dB easy. Out in the desert, no one would hear them. In the northeast, a loud bike is a different story.

I would consider 98dB perfectly reasonable in most cases.

You need to do a little more thinking before you share your opinion, also. You are lumping different replies to you, and different kinds of people, with different thoughts and concerns, together.

Concerning 'sneaking around where I don't belong', there are pretty much no legal places to ride, but there are landowners who don't mind if you ride through their property. Some with active approval, some with tacit approval. In this situation, being quiet is a big plus. If the landowners get pissed or annoyed (or if signs of parties start to appear), the signs and gates go up.

I have to say, some of what you say I consider reasonable and you come close to making a cogent and coherent argument, especially about there being responsible riders and idiots, and how fixing the 'sound' issue will not keep riding safe. There are indeed those that will stop riding by any means neccessary, whether it be because they are greenies, people who don't consider it 'proper', or they just do it because they can, as a power trip.

But, then your juvenile puling and whining comes in, and spoils the message.

One can only hope that you'll mature a bit, and can then add to the discussion.

LMAO over this one! The HD covention "Oyster Run" was in Anancortes, WA this weekend and all I heard was the loud straight pipes, they are so cool! NOT! ya know I even broke down and bought a 2007 HD Dyna Super Glide Custom (for riding to work and I liked the old school look) it has stock pipes and the wife says she can hear me coming home. And if your wondering if I attended their "little beat off celebration" NO I did not and WILL NOT, I consider myself a motorcycle enthusiast and I don't need the HD Bad boy thing going on nor the loud pipes. I do run after market pipes on my XR250R and XR650L though... FMF Power Core IV and FMF Q2 respectively.
