the heck with the magazines....you have to ride one for yourself. I think the only mag believe it or not that did not like the '08 was MXA all the rest loved the bike.

You guys really think you get a good "review"? It's all about the advertising dollar. I'm friends with the editor of the largest MX magazine (rhymes with wallyworld) and he says that he is riding Blue this year.

I really take to heart what he says, so I went out and bought a 08 yz450f. I couldn't be happier! The bike ROCKS!

Turns, handles, hooks up, goes where you point it and has plenty of power w/aftermarket pipe.

This is coming from a Suzuki guy.

Seriously I couldn't be happier with the Yamaha.

? you got it! I don't understand why folks get all crazy about magazine reviews. The mag testers skill level and tracks are probably completely different then yours and also there is the point the Chilio mentions. Go to your local track on practice day and find a rider that has a bike you want and talk to them about it, more times then not they will ask if you want to take it for a spin...seriously...it's surprised me too(no sarcasm intended).

Everyone has a bias. Some are able to set themselves apart from that and evaluate a thing objectively, and some aren't. Even then, your style and preferences come into the equation.

On the point about the bike not turning, or pushing the front, I think far too much of that is blamed on the machine, even though the machine is at least partly to blame for it, and not enough on the rider. When I find myself able to pass people in a turn, I say the bike turns.

This last weekend, we went to a local track for open practice and found it in reprehensible condition. It was bone dry, dusty, and 4" of silt/powder everywhere. If I had been on my '03, and not so intent on spending time with my "new" toy, I would have just left, but after a bit, I started having a little more fun.

While taking a break, I notice my son (also on an '06) was having a kind of a match with a guy on a big RMZ. Mister Yellow was actually enough faster that he had come from behind and was reeling Junior in. But then, he stuffed the front end in an uphill turn and went down. ? For what it's worth...

So you're telling us basically the YZF was a little more foregiving to ride, thus "sometimes" that focal point makes for a winning bike? Jeez, imagine that.....

he rides blue anyways..... atleast he did at the world mini... if were talkin about the same person.

You could draw that from that incident, but my point was here was someone on a bike with "imprecise steering" and a tendency to "push the front end" who rounded a corner that proved too be more than another rider on a bike that "carves corners like no other" could handle. ?

He is riding blue, but he does not seem like a blue loyal. I've seen him ride red, yellow, and blue over the past few years.

I trust the opinions of those that are not brand loyal far more than those that are... brand loyalty typically blocks their objectiveness.

What if your brand loyalty is founded on continuously reevaluated objective reason?

If that's really the case, I wouldn't consider that brand loyalty. I know people that will only buy BMWs or KTMs based off the belief that they are superior... they have nothing to base it off of because they've never tried and wouldn't consider owning anything else.
