XR650R rear shock

My shock is way to soft for my heavy butt. It is like riding a pogo stick. I think it might need rebuilding and a bigger spring. What have you done to improve the rear suspension? I am a small 220 lbs. ?

Eibach.com My experience with their products is excellent. Your local dealer can swap out the springs for you for probably under a 100 bucks and recharge. The tool alone to do the job is 80 bucks. Good luck

I only did the front forks and found that it was enough to suit me fine but than I'm only a 200 pounder. Either way Irwin is right about Eibach they'll have what you need. I wonder who Honda was setting these bikes up for at the factory.?

What tool is $80? I did it on mine with common hand tools. The only tool you need that might not be too common is a 30mm socket to pull the caps off of the forks.

definitely get a spring for your weight and have a shop put new oil in and recharge. www.racetech.com they have a spring calculator that will tell you exactly what you want for your riding weight and style.

It is the spring that holds a riders weight, the valve/shims/ports and fluid control the spring. There are spring charts for your weight and bike on links from this web site.

Has a lot of info on the different links. Click on the words for the different pages. Shock springs are $90 and forks springs are about $110 for the set. Forks have the valve port restricked to compromise for bigger riders from 2000~2004 then in 2005 on they restricked the ports more making for an even harsher ride. these ports should be ported back to 3.64mm and then shimmed to the riders needs. This bike done right can jump upto 60' table tops and go off 4 foot plus drop off's and still be twice as plush as stock.
