How much play is acceptable on the front spline?
My front sprocket is a wee bit wobbly rocking it by hand side to side. It moves maybe 2mm (0.08") total and also maybe 1/4mm (0.01") rotation wise on the shaft.
I figure it is going to get worse, but how long before I should change the countershaft?
Cheer fellas.

The wear will be very noticeable long before the splines fail. You may have years of riding left. The splines on my 93 have shown wear ever since I got the bike in 2000. It slowly gets worse.

I'd change the sprocket long before I'd change the shaft. Keep your chain tensioned properly and you'll get years out of that shaft. Now get out there and ride.
