Odd source for speedometers.

Recommended Posts

Well I wasn't having alot of luck finding a analog speedo for my bike. I have a trail tech unit but I wanted something different and better. There arn't alot of bike wreckers close by and Ebay was wasn't giving me what I wanted either. There may not be alot of bike parts to be had but there sure is alot of Snowmobile parts around.(here anyway) Which includes my own garage aswell. I had a 2005 Polaris speedo sitting around brand new so I decide to try it out and see if the ratio is the same as the bike. I bolt it on and take it for a spin and I reads exactly the same as my trail tech dose. Cool it works. Atleast Polaris works. It big easy to read, backlight too. It has a highbeam indicator so I hooked mine up to it. Plus it has a red light indicating the park brake is on I think. So I hooked it up as the turnsignal indicator so I won't leave them on.? Now I'm thinking of taking the Trail Tech right off. So tell me dose it look odd on there? Will it look cleaner with the trail tech removed.

Personally, I think it looks cool. A snowmachine speedo never even crossed my mind.:bonk:

If you take the TT off, what are you gonna do with it?

Maybe put a tachometer there instead? :ride:

Sean

A tach hmmmm. That really never crossed my mind. I do have the one that came off the same machine as the speedo. Same size and matches exactly. Hmmm just might have to look into that. 2 stroke twin tach on a 4 stroke single. ?

thanks for the sugestion

I have been using the BD's Speedo for about a year without any issues thus far. It has the same gear ratio of most bikes mile meter, so it hooks right up. It is backlit, but does not have the the other light options. It is only 2 1/2 inches in diameter, and is easy to read as well...

The speedo has two threaded bolts coming out of the back similar to the stock odometer only farther apart. One of the bolts went through one of the stock holes and I made up a small bracket to reach the other. If the trail tech comes off I may center it more. I was surprised it worked right. Like finding gold in your own garage.?
