I'm running mobil one synthetic 10w40 all year round in the north east. Planned on using 20w50 but I could not find it in synthetic. That would have been the summer mounths 20w50. Seems to run fine and shifts better with the synthetic.

I run the Rotella 15W-40. I still have about 10 gallons of the older formulation. It's great stuff. Has better viscosity retention than any other oil that I have ever used in a bike.

As far as weight goes I would not go lower than 40 in an aircooled bike. Before the Rotella I always used a 50 oil, like the Honda GN4 20W-50. They just run so much hotter than a water pumper. For the W number the lower the better.

Cleonard, I use the Rotella-T too in my other bikes, quads, I planned on using it in my XRL too but just wanted to see what the "manual" called for.

Dollar for dollar Rotella is the best deal out there.

I use it in my F150 and my Jag XJ6 as well.

Heavy, The 2007 manual calls for 10W-30 and 10W-40 for hot climates.
