All,

TT'r AgoosSS was good enough to help provide some details on doing a CR type brake line swap with Ride Engineering parts HERE and the first step was to switchover to KX250 fork guards.

Since my stock guards were already cracked and brittle, I did the first step this week and it was pretty easy.  There is one sticking point with regard to the factory odometer cable on the right side needing a guide/holder which isn't on the KX250.  Some use zip ties, other use two left side guides, but I was able to drill the rivets off the original fork odometer clamp, trim it, drill it, and re-rivet/bolt the clamp onto the right side guide without much trouble.  Very sturdy and looks nice, I really like the black guards on the green bike!  The only issue with the UFO parts I used, is that the guides are entirely plastic so pop rivets have trouble seating without pulling through.  If you are very careful with the drill and rivet size it is possible it would hold, but I didn't want to redo this later so I used a small stainless machine screw inserted from behind for one of the mounts.

Thanks again to AgoosSS!

A picture is worth a thousand words so here it is...

Your pics don't show up. I, too, went with the SStl Ride Eng. CR style brake line & clamp. I used black Acerbis '96 KX fork guards for my '93 KX forks. I fabbed some lower 3 hole L brackets & omitted the upper guides.

You can use a washer under the blind side of the rivet to keep it from pulling through.

But now that I see the pics I see that the rivet and washer might hang up the guard.
