Was lucky enough that Cannondale had an ATV and an XC440s available for test rides at the motorcycle/atv park I was riding last Friday. Stopped and was able to take the XC440s for a spin. Very nice bike!!! Electric start very nice, sounds very mean, ergos almost perfect ( I am 5'10" 155lbs). The bike had beautiful power all through the band and could turn on a dime. Had OHLINS both front and rear. My only worry/concern is lack of kick start back up. Very nice machine and Cannondale factory guy said they will be $5999 for the time being.

I just bought an X440S in October.  It's exactly as you explained.  FI is spot on in any condition.  I went from 5,000 ft elevation to 13,000 and the Cannondale never missed a beat.  The power band is very smooth and predictable, with a screaming top end.  I suggest everyone go to a Cannondale dealer and they should have a demo you can ride.  The only thing about it is that there is no backup kick starter.  That is because of the FI.  The fuel pump charges the injectors with pressurized fuel before the engine fires.  It is impossible to use a kick start.  They also come with a 6 month full warranty which is amazing for a race bike.  Yamaha and Honda don't even put warranties on their thumpers.  I love the bike.
