Sorry to say that, I went to my local dealer today to pick up a X440S but they couldn't get it started. :) It popped one time but that was all. I didn't have time to wait so no bike 'till at least Thursday. If anyone has the X440S can you tell me, can the battery have enough voltage to crank the motor and run the fuel pump but still be too weak to operate the computer? I did connect a jump battery and it cranked faster but still no fire. I guess I just wasn't meant to go on that Xmas day ride after all.

Happy Holidays,

Kevin

The charging system on the x440s is suposed to run the e start, efi, and, fuel pump, if it does not have enough voltage it may turn over and not start, i have put in a larger output stator in my bike ( to run heated grips)from the e model. It seems that my bike is starting much better than it ever has, even when the grips are noy in use, i think Cannondale should just upgrade to the `175 watt stator and a lot of starting problems will be solved. the factory rep told me that the standard stator will take 45minutes to fully charge, the 175 will take 10 mins, if i was buying a new bike i would ask that the dealer install this before delivery

BA, go to Cannondale.com where they have a dealer location site for each state. That should help you locate one in Mass.

All is well now. I've taked to several X440s owners and Chas at the factory. The battery didn't have enough charge and the shop owner is not up to speed on how to start a 'dale. The mechanic trained by 'dale showed me how and I've started it 10 times today with no trouble. So tomorrow I'm off to Saddleback MX to break it in.

Thanks to all for the info,

Kevin

Where exactly did you get your stator? Did you wind it by hand? How many turns did you use, what gauge wire? Thanks!!
